Simon Cowell (‘America’s Got Talent’) now thinks Voices of Service can win ‘this whole competition’ after ‘AGT’ finale performance [VIDEO]

Military singing group Voices of Service broke down in tears while reading fan letters before the “America’s Got TalentFinals on Tuesday night. The inspirational singers pride themselves on making a difference in the lives of soldiers and veterans, which came through during their rendition of Leona Lewis‘ “Footprints In The Sand.” Simon Cowell was so impressed with their performance that he proclaimed they could win “this whole competition.” Do you think Voices of Service will join the “AGT” winners list? Watch the performance video above, read the judges’ comments below and then make your predictions before Wednesday’s finale.

Howie Mandel: “Just hearkening back to what Simon said at the opening of the show when you asked him what tonight means, we talk about acts that not only are inspiring but they inspire others. You are changing lives. If you look at the video at the beginning, you can tell those are the people you’re moving. It is so important and so wonderful and so powerful. Congratulations. I hope America votes. Only one can go through.”

Gabrielle Union: “Performance perfection. I want to go back to last week and I spoke to you on the stage and in your moment of success you took that time to hug Luke Islam in his moment. You recognize those heroes that walk among us whose voices have been silenced, who need the resources and the attention and that’s what you guys do. You are instruments of healing and you are beyond this stage and brilliant, absolutely brilliant.”

Julianne Hough: “One of the biggest questions I think people ask themselves is what is life about, right? We have an opportunity as artists who perform, whether it’s through music, entertainment, film, acting, whatever it is, to bring people joy and hope and that is what you guys do. So thank you for using your talent as an outlet for people to feel seen.”

Simon Cowell: “I think you’ve had two incredible weeks, last week and this week. You defy the words sincerity, decency and talent. And you know what? I wouldn’t have said this three weeks ago. You’ve just given yourself a chance of winning this whole competition.”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “It was moving seeing the member of Voices of Service read from fan letters about how they’ve inspired those struggling with PTSD before hearing them sing for the final time because inspiration truly is the heart behind what they do. I’m not sure where it came from, but tonight their voices were bigger and more powerful than they’ve ever been. Prior to tonight I said that they’d need a towering performance in order to compete for the championship and I have to say… they delivered! Both Gabrielle and Julianne were very emotional when speaking to the group about how important the work that they do is. Simon said they’re defined by ‘sincerity, decency and talent’ and agreed that tonight they gave themselves a chance at winning the whole thing.”
