Sterling K. Brown (‘This Is Us’) 2019 Emmy Awards episode revealed for Best Drama Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Sterling K. Brown is entering the “This Is Us” episode “R&B” as his 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Actor. This program aired March 26 and was the 17th episode of the third season for the NBC show.

In this installment, Randall (Brown) is coached by his brother to ask Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) on a date. Fast forward to seven years later when they are now a couple but she repeatedly turns down his marriage proposals. In present day, Beth blames Randall for limiting her opportunities throughout their marriage.

It’s the third straight nomination for Brown in this role and his fourth overall. He won this category in 2017 and for “The People v. O.J. Simpson” the year before. For this year’s contest, he is competing against co-star Milo Ventimiglia, returning nominee Jason Bateman (“Ozark”), past writing winner Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), previous nominee Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”) and first-time contender Billy Porter (“Pose”).
