After 32 days in Fiji, ultimate underdog Karishma Patel was finally voted out of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” after her group’s plan to bring in Noura Salman flopped big time. Karishma is now the seventh member of the jury that will determine the winner of Season 39 on December 18, following Jack Nichting, Kellee Kim, Jamal Shipman, Aaron Meredith & Missy Byrd and Elizabeth Beisel. Watch Karishma’s Ponderosa video above, in which she freaks out when a cockroach flies in her hair.
Moments after Jeff Probst snuffed her torch, Karishma revealed her reason for signing up for “Survivor.” “I always wondered, could I be a survivalist, could I be an outdoorsy person, could I get challenged this way and make it?” she asked. “I always had so much confidence. Now I know I can do it, but now I know I don’t want to do it.”
Karishma visited the show’s doctor for her ritual weigh-in and discovered she’d lost 20 pounds. “I was legitimately uncomfortable every single conscious minute for 32 days,” she told him. That’s when Karishma was interrupted by a cockroach flying into her hair. “No! Oh my God, it was on me?!” she screamed as the doctor calmly brushed it away. “Check — check — is there more?” she quickly asked.
Later Karishma admitted she “could have fought it out to 39” days had she not been voted out by her cast mates. However, she was more than happy to be out of the elements. “I’m gonna go home in my comfortable, clean, non-bug-infested environment and I’m gonna stay that way,” she laughed in reference to the cockroach.
While she was “so proud” to be a juror, Karishma confessed she was worried upon arriving at the jury house that no one would be waiting to greet her. “What I needed more than anything in the world was a hug,” she stated. Luckily the other jury members did just that, wrapping their arms around Karishma and welcoming her to her temporary new home. “I could not stop smiling. It was the first time I think I truly, truly smiled with all my heart in a very, very long time.”
