“I’ve been rooting for Aubry Bracco for a long time,” Gold Derby’s Susan Wloszczyna says to Marcus James Dixon about who she wants to return from the Edge of Extinction in next week’s “Survivor” season finale. Susan reminds viewers that Aubry has had a practice advantage for “I don’t know how many weeks now,” adding, “She has nothing else to do on the island so she’s been practicing for whatever challenge they have to do.” Watch our “Survivor” Season 38, Episode 13 video recap above.
As for who Marcus wants to win the Extinction Island challenge, he’s also on the Aubry bandwagon. “I think she deserves another shot. She got voted out too early.” However, Marcus adds that he thinks Joe Anglim will ultimately be the one to earn a second chance at the $1 million prize. “I think Joe has what it takes,” Marcus says, referring to his physical prowess. But is Joe’s mind still in the game?
Following the elimination of Aurora McCreary in the 13th episode, there are now 11 people at the Edge of Extinction waiting for their chance to return to the game in the finale: Reem Daly, Chris Underwood, Aubry Bracco, Joe Anglim, Eric Hafemann, Julia Carter, David Wright, Kelley Wentworth, Dan “Wardog” DaSilva, Ron Clark and Aurora. “It’s not a matter of being strategic or anything, they just have to [win the challenge],” remarks Susan.
“This week at Extinction Island it was very strange,” Marcus notes. “They got letters, but not letters from family members like they’ve done in the past. They got letters from themselves. And they were all crying over it!” Susan chimes in that they were crying because “they forgot what they wrote.” Marcus then realizes that this finale is going to be “jam-packed” since it will include the comeback challenge followed by four tribal councils.
Also in this week’s video recap, Susan and Marcus discuss whether the Edge of Extinction concept “totally works,” if Rick Devens can keep dominating immunity challenges until the end, and which of the Final 5 castaways haven’t gotten their proper winner’s edits.
