“He’s so cocky he thinks that they’re gonna fall for this,” Gold Derby’s Susan Wloszczyna says to Marcus James Dixon about Ron Clark giving his expired advantage menu to Rick Devens in the loved ones episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” Even though the menu clearly stated that it expired after the third tribal council, Susan’s theory is that Ron deviously “ripped it up to the portion that only showed the advantages.” Watch our “Survivor” Season 38, Episode 12 video recap above.
Of course, Rick ended up playing the fake advantage but he had an ace up his sleeve in the form of a real immunity idol that he used after Jeff Probst told him that the menu had expired. Marcus notes, “It was interesting because Julie Rosenberg seemed to know about it, but we didn’t see the scene of Julie [finding out], so there’s a lot going on that we’re not seeing. I don’t think it was a good move on Ron’s part.”
As for the highly anticipated loved ones challenge, Susan announces, “It’s surprising how much these female contestants [like Lauren O’Connell and Victoria Baamonde] love their fathers, but I’m not gonna judge. There’s a lot of hugging — a lot of close, full-body hugging.” However, Susan concedes, “I understand that some women are very attached to their dads, so I’m not gonna be too judgey.”
When we discuss who might be returning from Extinction Island, Susan names Aubry Bracco while Marcus picks Joe Anglim. “He’s given up hope,” Susan says about Joe. “His face is so sad, even when he goes and sits on the jury. He’s gonna get married soon, he’s got other things on his mind.” Marcus proclaims that he’d love to see an “Extinction Island after-show” online where fans can follow along with what’s happening on the deserted island.
Also in this week’s video recap, Susan and Marcus discuss Gavin Whitson‘s emotions — or lack thereof — during the loved ones visit, Rick finding a hidden immunity idol by climbing up the tree, who might go home next week, and whether Reem Daly could win if she’s in the finals.
