“We’re not surprised by who went home — we kind of saw this coming,” Gold Derby’s Marcus James Dixon tells Susan Wloszczyna about the elimination of Dan “Wardog” DaSilva in the 11th episode of “Survivor: Edge of Extinction.” We also debate who could join the “Survivor” winners list, with Rick Devens a strong contender for both of us. However, we agree that it’s imperative he wins immunity next week or he’ll likely be a goner. Watch our “Survivor” Season 38 video recap above.
As for Wardog’s elimination, Susan jokes, “Just for the fact he keeps talking about himself in the third person, it’s enough of a thing to eventually get rid of Wardog.” Marcus adds, “After he voted out Kelley Wentworth last week — he orchestrated this very ruthless blindside — you and I were talking in the video recap and we’re like, yeah, he’s gone next.”
“I think it was a teeny bit too early for him to pull something like that,” notes Susan, “but he only listens to himself … or talks to himself.” Marcus gives Wardog props for trying to create an alliance with Rick and Ron Clark, saying that “it worked with Rick because Rick voted with Wardog, but Ron is a sneaky one, Ron betrayed him.”
In terms of who we think will win the $1 million prize in “Survivor: Edge of Extinction,” Marcus says that he can see Gavin Whitson making it to the Final 3. “The question is, can he win?” Marcus wonders before realizing, “Maybe he does have a shot because the jury’s just in love with him.” But ultimately Marcus thinks that Rick will be the sole survivor of Season 38. “We’ll see what happens with the phony menu,” Susan notes about Ron giving his expired advantage menu to Rick in the next episode. “He’ll pin all of his hopes on that.”
Also in this week’s video recap, Susan and Marcus discuss the history of castaways creating fake advantages, the rice fight between Ron and Aurora McCreary, and who we think is going home next week.
