This ‘Amazing Race’ dance Detour judge may be tougher to impress than Len Goodman [WATCH]

The Amazing Race” is turning into Dancing with the Reality Stars. Wednesday’s episode takes the remaining nine teams to Vietnam, where one of the Detours involves performing a choreographed routine in light-up costumes. And their judge is the strictest judge this side of Len Goodman.

“We love music, dance challenges,” Floyd Pierce says in the sneak peek above with a level of confidence that tells you it won’t go easily. That’s because the stern judge’s favorite word is “no,” which he repeatedly bellows to the teams who think they’ve aced it.

We love a no-hassle judge and kind of wish he says nothing else besides “no” and yes,” but alas he does offer the exhausted teams a few tips — “energy, power” — but those are both vague and subjective enough, not to mention still less than what Goodman offers on “Dancing with the Stars.” And his tough love and the repeated performances are starting to wear on the teams. “She’s the one that keeps messing up,” Rachel Reilly says of her sister Elissa Slater.”

Based on the preview and the released photos, the teams who do this Detour include Becca Droz and Floyd, Rachel and Elissa, Leo Temory and Jamal Zadran, Chris Hammons and Bret LaBelle, Colin Guinn and Christie Woods. At least two teams, Tyler Oakley and Korey Kuhl, and Corinne Kaplan and Eliza Orlins, do the other Detour, which is fishing for prawns. The two unaccounted for teams are Victor Arroyo and Nicole Franzel, and Janelle Pierzina and Britney Haynes.

“The Amazing Race” airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
