We are now down to the final six competitors on the sophomore season of “The Masked Singer.” With only a half-dozen covert celebrities remaining in the competition, it’s time to do another power ranking of who is the most likely to win this season’s contest. Now, since the last power ranking I put together, two of the top three from that listing have been eliminated so I’ve taken a bit of a different method in determining the order for this list. Do you think we have these in the right order? If not, how would you reorder them? Make sure to post your thoughts in the comments below.
This puppy seems to be winning everyone over including me even though I’m firmly on Team Cat. He’s got a great voice, brings a great energy to the stage and always has a fun setup for his performances. He debuted with a killer rendition of “Maneater” by Hall & Oates and just last week brought the house down with an amazing version of “Grenade” by Bruno Mars. The audience also loves him and it’s not hard to see this fella riding that all the way to victory. Also, the six-pack doesn’t hurt either.
Judges’ best guesses: Darren Criss, Brian Littrell, JC Chasez
When a singing competition eliminates Patti LaBelle, you know that killer vocals aren’t everything. However, this plant has grown with every performance and she’s able to bring the crowd along with her. She had already wowed us with versions of “Think” by Aretha Franklin and “No Excuses” by Meghan Trainor. Then she delivered another great performance this week with her cover of “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler. While it could still backfire, she’s still solidly a top-tier contender.
Judges’ best guesses: Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Sedaris
This bird keeps on bringing her A-game. Her first two outings on stage were great including a killer rendition of “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins. She seemed to falter a little with dialed down version of “Never Enough” by Loren Allred. But then she stunned us all with her cover of “Lady Marmalade” by Patti LaBelle. She’s showing the strength that’s needed to stay in this competition and is proving that her continued presence is no fluke.
Judges’ best guesses: Adrienne Bailon, Olivia Jade, Kandi Burress
He’s definitely fun but it took a while for this performer to find his footing. By the time of his second go-around, he found himself on solid ground and really showed some skills with his third performance, “Every Little Step” by Bobby Brown. This past week he pulled off an incredible version of Chris Stapleton’s soulful ballad, “Tennessee Whiskey.” But to keep competing with the above personalities, he might need to add a bit more pizzazz to his routines.
Judges’ best guesses: Jamie Foxx, AJ McLean, Taye Diggs
This wacky whatchamacallit has a pretty standard set of abilities but he uses them well. He also seems to be a crowd favorite so even when he gives us more of the same in his performances, he’s still likely to be saved by the audience vote. He proved that again this week when he tried out “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble.
Judges’ best guesses: Montell Jordan, Tony Parker, Dennis Rodman
This kitty showed such promise when he debuted on the program singing “Somebody to Love” by Queen but became very hit or miss. His most recent performance of “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire didn’t quite match up to the energy you would want from the song. He’s also been put into the smackdown twice showing that he is especially vulnerable. If this leopard wants to continue, he might have to do the equivalent of changing his spots.
Judges’ best guesses: Seal, Billy Porter, Tyler Perry
