‘The Masked Singer’ Peacock performs ‘Counting Stars’ 30 feet in air despite ‘terrible fear of heights’ [WATCH]

“When I stepped out on that stage for the first time, I loved being able to perform without anyone knowing who I was,” Peacock admitted in the third episode of “The Masked Singer.” He continued, “It was absolutely exhilarating and I felt like I was five years old again.” For his encore performance, Peacock took on OneRepublic‘s “Counting Stars” and wowed judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke. In the “clues” portion of Fox’s reality TV show, Peacock stated, “This show appealed to me so much because I’ve had so many different incarnations of my career and everyone thinks they know me. I started out as a little teenybopper, but there’s more than meets the eye. Then I was cast in some dramatic roles. Tonight, I’m gonna push myself harder than I ever have before by performing on a 30-foot lift in a mask in which I can barely see my own feet. Oh, and did I mention I have a terrible fear of heights?”

WEEK THREE SPOILERS: Who are Lion, MonsterPeacockUnicorn

As for some of the judges’ guesses, guest Joel Mchale suggested actor Neil Patrick Harris, while Robin brought up magicians Criss Angel and David Copperfield. Nicole then threw out a wild card: actor/singer David Hasselhoff. Peacock’s clue to the panel was to confirm their suspicions that he has performed in Las Vegas, which prompted Robin to wonder if he could be Tom Jones.

One of the popular fan theories about Peacock’s true identity is showman Donny Osmond. He fits all of the clues from the first episode, including that he loves the color purple and he comes from a family of singers. However, Osmond isn’t known for starring in “dramatic roles” on TV or film.

In his “The Masked Singer” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about Peacock’s performance: “As he begins singing ‘Counting Stars’ by OneRepublic, my thought that this is Donny Osmond is only reinforced. He’s definitely a seasoned performer, but Jenny thinks his voice sounds ‘young.’ The panel is loving Peacock’s showmanship. So dramatic!”
