‘The Masked Singer’ preview: T-Pain returns as Final 6 celebs take the stage on Tuesday (yes, Tuesday!)

T-Pain, aka the winner of “The Masked Singer” Season 1, returns to Fox’s wild and wacky reality TV show on December 10 to serve as a panelist for the Final 6 celebs still in the competition. The popular rapper joins up with Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke to try to guess who’s hiding behind the Flamingo, Fox, Leopard, Rottweiler, Thingamajig and Tree masks. That’s right — “The Masked Singer” is airing twice this week, with one contestant eliminated Tuesday night and two more being unmasked Wednesday, December 11.

For those with short term memories, T-Pain dressed up as the turquoise Monster during the first season and belted out such classic tunes as “Don’t Stop Me Now,” “I Don’t Want to Be,” “American Woman,” “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Stay With Me” and “This Is How We Do It.” The judges fell in love with his comeback story and voted him through each week without ever having a clear idea of who was hiding behind the Monster get-up.

Among the panelists’ many infamously wrong guesses were Tommy Davidson, Nelly, CeeLo Green, Jamie Foxx, P Diddy, Darius Rucker, Calvin Harris, Tyrese Gibson and Terence Howard. One particular guess that went viral was Jenny’s pick of Michael Vick. When Monster removed his confetti-covered mask to reveal T-Pain, he responded perfectly by saying, “I love my dogs!”

In the first season finale, it all came down to Monster, Peacock and Bee. After each of them performed, the Bee was eliminated in third place, revealing Gladys Knight. Then the Peacock was sent home as the runner-up, revealing Donny Osmond. That left the Monster as the winner of the first-ever golden mask.

As for why he signed up for “The Masked Singer” in the first place, T-Pain explained, “I didn’t have a chance to come into the game with my natural voice [because of Auto-Tune]. This helped me get my voice out there even more.” Are you excited T-Pain is returning this week to judge Flamingo, Fox, Leopard, Rottweiler, Thingamajig and Tree?
