Get ready for “the biggest surprise” yet on “The Masked Singer” Season 2, as the Fox network promises a surprise unmasking from one of this week’s four costumed celebrities: Flamingo, Flower, Leopard and Rottweiler. This marks the fourth time each of these contestants has performed on the wild and wacky reality TV show. So far they’ve all managed to survive elimination, but for one masked singer it’ll be the end of the road in Wednesday’s ninth episode, airing November 20. Watch the preview trailer above.
In the promo video, Robin Thicke tells Rottweiler his rendition of “Grenade” is “the performance of the season.” Previously during this fall cycle Rottweiler took on such iconic tunes as “Maneater,” “Love Runs Out” and “Castle on the Hill.” He received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with some of the judges’ guesses being Gavin DeGraw, Darren Criss and James Franco.
Flamingo’s first three songs so far were “Sucker,” “Footloose” and “Never Enough.” Flower blew the roof off of “9 to 5,” “Cheap Thrills” and “Amazed.” And Leopard’s song choices were “Somebody to Love,” “Stitches” and “Teenage Dream.” “This will be the hardest vote we’ve ever done,” declares Jenny McCarthy after the four singers perform to stay alive another week.
Superstar guesser Joel McHale returns to “The Masked Singer” this week after previously being a guest judge in the first season. McHale follows recent guest panelists Anthony Anderson in the seventh episode and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in the eighth hour. Of course, the regular four judges are back again — Robin, Jenny, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger — as well as host Nick Cannon.
The first eight costumed celebs to be unmasked were Johnny Weir (Egg), Ninja (Ice Cream), Laila Ali (Panda), Dr. Drew Pinsky (Eagle), Paul Shaffer (Skeleton), Raven-Symone (Black Widow), Sherri Shepherd (Penguin) and Kelly Osbourne (Ladybug). Who will be next? “Mask and You Shall Receive” airs Wednesday on Fox.
