A very special guest panelist will join “The Masked Singer” for this week’s eighth episode: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Airing Wednesday, November 13, Triumph will watch from the judges’ table as Flower, Fox, Ladybug, Rottweiler and Tree perform for the votes of the studio audience as well as regular panelists Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke. After all five have performed, the costumed celebrity with the lowest number of votes will unmask and reveal their true identity. Watch Fox’s preview trailer above.
“If you just gave me one sniff I would know who it was,” Triumph jokes after one of the performances. For the uninitiated, Triumph is a puppet voiced by comedian Robert Smigel. The cigar-smoking canine got his start on Conan O’Brien‘s “Late Night” show before taking his act on the road. In 2016 he starred in Hulu’s “Triumph’s Election Special” which was nominated for an Emmy for writing. Watch Gold Derby’s hilarious 2016 interview with Triumph.
Also in the promo video, the Fox is shown performing Bobby Brown‘s “Every Little Step” as he dances around the stage in his top hat and gold pants. “That’s what I’m talkin’ about!” Nicole shouts about his high-energy performance.
Just like last week’s group (Butterly, Flamingo, Leopard, Thingamajig and Black Widow), this week’s group of five singers will bring out physical clues to help — or perhaps confuse — the high-stakes guessing game. As it turns out, Rottweiler’s clue is a drawn portrait of Triumph surrounded in hearts. The colorful image is signed, “Rott.”
“The Masked Singer” preview trailer hints this week will feature “an unbelievable reveal,” so tune in Wednesday night on Fox to find out who it is. As a refresher, the first seven contestants to be unmasked were Johnny Weir (Egg), Ninja (Ice Cream), Laila Ali (Panda), Dr. Drew Pinsky (Eagle), Paul Shaffer (Skeleton), Raven-Symone (Black Widow) and Sherri Shepherd (Penguin).
