On the January 30 episode of “The Masked Singer,” the Unicorn made her third appearance. After she sang on the premiere back on Jan. 2, we were fairly sure who she really was. Then her return in week 3 had us wondering. Since then, we’ve been studying the clues she dropped in the pre-recorded videos, her performances on stage and her cagey responses to the judges questions. Piecing the puzzle together, we are certain in our reasoning as to who is hidden beneath this elaborate costume and mask. SPOILERS AHEAD.
Forget following judge Nicole Scherzinger down the path that led her to think that the Unicorn was Denise Richards. On Jan. 16, the Unicorn had admitted she lacked confidence “because I lost my sheen.” Nicole jumped to the conclusion that this was a reference to Denise’s tempestuous marriage to Charlie Sheen. We think that the Unicorn is Tori Spelling.
Consider this evidence from the clues videos. The Unicorn revealed, “I was born in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods.” Tori is the only daughter of TV producer Aaron Spelling. He produced “Beverly Hills 90210” for her to star in and the opening credits of that show are referenced in the video. And the Unicorn also admitted, “my childhood should have been magical” but was’t. Tori chronicled her miserable early years in a 2008 tell-all “Stori Telling.”
As for her performances of “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten in week 1 and “Oops!… I Did It Again” by Britney Spears in week 3, Nicole was right on the money when she observed that the Unicorn was not a trained singer and was definitely someone older (Spelling is 45 and she has raised her voice in song in various TV shows.)
We won’t find out if Tori is the Unicorn till she is unmasked. That only happens if she loses a match-up or wins the show. Do you think we are right about the true identity of the Unicorn? Sound off in the comments section with your best guesses.
