‘The Masked Singer’ spoilers: The Tree is …

The Masked Singer” episode on December 4 featured four celebrities disguised as a Butterfly, Fox, Thingamajig and Tree. Each of them sang for votes from the studio audience and was determined not to end up in the bottom two. That meant a sudden death sing-off with the four judges (Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke) determining who would be eliminated.

Of the four famous folk competing in week 8, the biggest surprise has been the Tree. She first appeared on the premiere when she stole the show with her version of the Panic! at the Disco hit “High Hopes.” She returned in week 5 and earned roars of approval for her cover of the Aretha Franklin classic “Think.” And in week 7, she showed her range with her rendition of the Meghan Trainor tune “No Excuses.”

We’ve been doing some digging and now know the name of the celebrity who has branched out to become a Tree. Keep reading for the fourth of this week’s “The Masked Singer” spoilers.

The Tree is “Saturday Night Live” star Ana Gasteyer. If you think otherwise, consider the following evidence.

Collectively, “The Masked Singer” celebrities have been on Broadway 22 times. Gasteyer has starred in four Broadway shows: “The Rocky Horror Show,” “The Royal Family,” “The Threepenny Opera” and “Wicked.”

The Tree readily admits that she wants to “jazz up” her career. In 2014, Gasteyer released a critically acclaimed jazz album, “I’m Hip.”

Gasteyer has been busy promoting her  new holiday album, “Sugar and Booze,” which would account for her being dressed as a Christmas tree.

Her clues video is full of references to baking. One of Gasteyer’s most famous characters on “SNL” was Margaret Jo McCullin, host of the NPR radio show “The Delicious Dish.”

Her video also contains a photo of a Public Storage locker with the number 30. “SNL” is based at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, long-time home to NBC.  That would also account for the black-and-white TV seen in the video.

We’ll only find out if our guess is right when the Tree is unmasked. This will be either when the Tree leaves the show or wins season 2. Who do you think is hidden inside the Tree costume?
