‘The Masked Singer’ spoiler: The Rabbit is …

We are almost 100% sure about the real identities of four of the five celebrities competing on “The Masked Singer” semi-final on February 20. The one that still has us guessing is the Rabbit. We have him narrowed down to two of the members of a chart-topping boy band. One of them was our first guess, but he says that this isn’t him. But can we believe his n0n-denial denial? Spoilers ahead.

The Rabbit is Joey Fatone, from the group NSYNC. He says this isn’t so. If he is telling the whole truth, it must be Joey’s one-time bandmate, JC Chasez. Don’t get fooled by Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong who think that the Rabbit is not a professional singer. Remember the Rabbit readily admitted,  “I’ve spent most of my life on stage, but I was never alone.” As he explained “synchronized singing was my forte.”

No amateur could have handled the Stevie Wonder classic “Isn’t She Lovely” as well as the Rabbit did in the quarter-final.  Prior to that, the Rabbit performed knock-out covers of “Livin’ la Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin“Wake Me Up” by Avicii and “Poison” by Bell Biv DeVoe.

The Rabbit has declared that “the last man standing, it’s gonna be me.” Remember, “It’s Gonna Be Me” was the only #1 for NSYNC. This track from their second studio album “No Strings Attached” reached the top of the charts in 2000. And he declared, “I knew I would thrive behind this mask and I knocked it out of the amusement park.” NSYNC got their start performing in theme parks in Orlando, Florida.

As for now, “I pop up here, and I pop up there.” Both Joey and JC have been busy since the group split in 2002 with various TV and record projects. Joey has hosted reality competition shows including “The Singing Bee” and cooking shows such as “Rewrapped.” And JC was a judge on MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” for seven seasons.
