“For years I’ve been lacking confidence because I lost my sheen,” Unicorn revealed in the third episode of “The Masked Singer.” She then added, “Before my last performance I was so scared, but as soon as I stepped on that stage, I was flying high.” For her encore performance, Unicorn took on Britney Spears‘s “Oops!… I Did It Again” and had judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke scratching their heads about her true identity. When host Nick Cannon asked Unicorn if she was a gymnast, the costumed celeb quickly responded, “In the bedroom.” In the “clues” portion of Fox’s reality TV show, Unicorn teased, “I came here to conquer my fear of singing and of being judged. And I did it. So this week I’m going to exude model behavior. I’m feeling victorious and tonight I am going for the gold. No one can ever crush this Unicon’s spirit again.”
Jenny praised Unicorn for her vulnerability, saying, “I think all of us girls can relate to being insecure at one time. I mean, I know that I’ve hard a time convincing people I’m actually real. But I think your performance was magical. I almost pooped a rainbow!” The panel as a whole seemed stumped and threw out all kinds of names, including Denise Richards, Gabby Douglas, Mary Lou Retton, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney.
One of the popular fan theories about Unicorn’s true identity is actress Tori Spelling. She fits all of the clues from the first episode, including that she had a troubled childhood and was born in a wealthy neighborhood, aka 90210. However, Tori is known for her acting and not for her modeling.
In his “The Masked Singer” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about Unicorn’s performance: “This week, she wants to exude ‘model behavior’ and tonight she’s going for the gold. She’s singing ‘Oops…I Did It Again’ by Britney Spears. She’s definitely not a trained singer. Last time she performed, clues led me to think Tori Spelling. Based on the vocals, I still think that could be true, but this weeks clues confused me.”
