On Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” the Top 13 artists coached by Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed. The goal for each contestant was to have the most streamed song on Apple Music by Tuesday at 10 am E.T./ 7 a.m. PT so that they reaped the benefit of a five-times vote multiplier.
In a troubling sign of the popularity of these season 17 contestants, none of them cracked the Top 10 on iTunes; this was the benchmark for the multiplier until this season. The closest were two of the artists on Team John Legend: Marybeth Byrd ranked the highest, coming in at #18 for her rendition of the Vince Gill hit “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Katie Kadan was right behind with her cover of “I’m Going Down” by Rose Royce.
Of their competition, seven other artists made the top 200. Of these, only four made the Top 100. (See the full list of songs and where they ranked below.)
Conversely, four of the artists hoping to win season 17 of “The Voice” are missing from the Top 200 chart: Max Boyle , Myracle Holloway, Joana Martinez and Shane Q. After the three lowest artists in the vote count revealed by Carson Daly on November 19 are eliminated, the next three lowest will have to sing again in hopes of winning the Instant Save via viewers’ votes.
Based on their low ranking on the iTunes chart and their last-place finishes in our poll, the likeliest contenders for the chop are Myracle, Joana and Shane. That would mean Max would make the Instant Save, possibly facing off against Rose Short and Hello Sunday.
