Something tells us Tommy Sheehan‘s fellow castaways are going to seriously regret not voting him out of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” during last week’s double elimination episode. This New York school teacher is currently our readers’ prediction for who will win the $1 million prize when the Season 39 finale airs this December on CBS. Tommy tops our winner’s chart with 18/5 odds, far ahead of second place contender Janet Carbin at 5/1 odds.
Tommy’s name was thrown out last week for the first time as a potential boot after his group of five got back to camp following the immunity challenge. Missy Byrd saw him as a huge threat to win the game thanks in part to his bond with Lauren Beck, someone whom Missy wanted to work with. She also correctly deduced that Tommy’s likeability could push him over the edge if he was sitting in the final three.
When Missy went to Elizabeth Beisel, Karishma Patel and Elaine Stott with her plan to vote out Tommy, they all seemed to be on board. However, Karishma hatched a separate plan to get out Missy, whom she saw as a bully. Tommy and Elaine fell in line behind Karishma and Missy was voted out by a narrow 3-2 vote. See Missy’s experience joining the jury house.
“Missy has brought up my name to knock me out tonight,” said Tommy, or “Big Red” as Elaine calls him, before tribal council. “So of course, when you bring up my name, I’m coming after you. Karishma went from the most unpopular kid in class to now the most popular kid in class where everyone wants her vote.” He added that Missy’s bullying of Karishma was one of the reasons she needed to go, saying, “I view [Karishma] as a person and not as a goat.”
With only nine people left in the game, Tommy is looking more and more like a threat to win it all. His current allies are Lauren, Elaine, Karishma, Noura Salman and Dan Spilo, so if his group of of six sticks together they could potentially vote out the other three players (Elizabeth, Janet and Dean Kowalski) one by one. However, will the collective tribe really let someone as likeable as Tommy make it all the way to the finish line?
