Tony Hale (‘Veep’) 2019 Emmy Awards episode revealed for Best Comedy Supporting Actor (Exclusive)

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Tony Hale is entering the “Veep” series finale episode “Veep” as his 2019 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. This program aired May 12 and was the seventh episode of the seventh season for the HBO show.

In this installment, former President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is desperately trying to become the nominee again for her party. She offers the Vice President slot to hated rival Jonah (Timothy Simons) and slyly takes down front-runner Tom James (Hugh Laurie). She must sacrifice her devoted assistant Gary (Hale) to the FBI to save herself.

It’s the sixth nomination for Hale in this role, which brought him victories in 2013 and 2015. For this year’s contest, he is competing against 2018 champ Henry Winkler, previous winner Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), past nominee Alan Arkin (“The Kominsky Method”) and first-time contenders Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”) and Stephen Root (“Barry”).
