Watch 2019 Emmy nominations announcement live: July 16 at 8:30 am PT/11:30 am ET

This year’s Emmy nominations will be revealed at the civilized hour of 8:20 a.m. PT/ 11:20 a.m. ET on July 16 from the Wolf Theatre at the TV academy’s Saban Media Center in North Hollywood. TV academy chair and CEO Frank Scherma will appear alongside “The Good Place” scene stealer D’arcy Carden and Ken Jeong, one of the judges on the breakout hit “The Masked Singer” to reveal the roster of nominees for the 71st Emmy Awards.

Carden could well hear her own name among the nominees for Best Comedy Supporting Actress. While Jeong isn’t in the running, his show is a strong contender for Best Reality Competition Series. This offbeat adaptation of a South Korean TV staple was a big ratings success for FOX in the winter. Not surprisingly, it is returning for back-to-back editiions this season,

FOX will be airing the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sept. 22 in a live coast-to-coast telecast that begins at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET. No host has been announced as of yet. Perhaps the TV academy will follow the lead of their motion picture counterparts and opt for a more streamlined ceremony without an emcee. We may know at the nominations announcement.
