When are 2020 Grammy nominations announced? These are the key dates for 62nd annual awards

The Grammys are changing things up for their 2020 awards. After the Oscars decided to move up their telecast to February 9 — the weekend the Grammys usually hand out their prizes — the recording academy also decided to move up their kudos too. They shifted their eligibility period too. Now the deadline to qualify for these awards is August 31 instead of the usual September 30, and the winners will be announced live on January 26. Scroll down for all of this season’s key Grammy dates.

The Grammy process is actually already underway. The first-round online entry period started on June 24 and will end on July 8. Then first-round voting will take place from September 25 to October 10. More than a month later the nominations will be announced on November 20. Voting for the winners will follow from December 9 to January 3. And capping it all off will be the Grammy ceremony on January 26.

These awards have undergone a number of changes over the last couple of years in response to criticisms of how the Grammys treat women and artists of color. The academy created a diversity task force to examine its practices, expanded its voting membership and even expanded the nominations in the top four general field categories from five nominations to eight. When prizes were handed out earlier this year Album of the Year went to the critically hailed “Golden Hour” by Kacey Musgraves, while “This is America” by Childish Gambino made history as the first hip-hop song to win Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
