Yes, it has been one hell of a rollercoaster ride on the 18th season of “Hell’s Kitchen.” For one, Gordon Ramsay decided to dump the much-touted “Rookies vs. Veterans” theme in episode 4 and went back to the usual gender-separated teams. Returning chef Jen Gavin accused Ramsay of sabotaging her garnish and was never seen again after episode 3, while rookie Chris Mendonca had to leave the show before the fifth dinner service for on-going mental problems just as his star was rising.
But let’s treat those jarring events just like Ramsay approaches mangled salmon, barely cooked steak and one cremated pork chop – simply toss them away. Instead, write down 8 p.m. ET/PT and circle February 8 on your calendar so you remember to tune into Fox that night. Because that is when the two-hour special finale airs. Teeny tiny spoiler: The last showdown will find two chefs doing menus for a service set at Six Flags Magic Mountain – hence the title of episode 15, “A Rollercoaster Ride.”
No, we don’t know which of the final four chefs – veterans Ariel Contreras-Fox and Bret Hauser along with rookies Mia Castro and Motto – will be appearing on the last two episodes. But you can easily find out by watching this Friday’s episode 14, titled “What’s Your Motto?” at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox to see who makes it through to the end. What’s at stake? The position of executive chef at Ramsay’s new kitchen at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas plus some spending cash to the tune of $250,000.
