Will Breman (‘I Don’t Care’) wins ‘The Voice’ Knockout for John Legend, who praises his ‘fire and energy’ [WATCH]

For John Legend‘s latest Knockout on “The Voice,” he paired up 25-year-old Will Breman against 16-year-old Zoe Upkins during Monday’s episode. At this stage of the competition the artists get to pick their own songs, with Will’s choice being “I Don’t Care” and Zoe going with “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.” After hearing both of their powerful renditions, John decided to advance Will to the live Playoffs and eliminate Zoe. Do you think John made the right choice? Watch “The Voice” video above and then sound off down in the comments section.

Following the two performances, Gwen Stefani proclaimed Will as the winner of the Knockout, but neither Kelly Clarkson or Blake Shelton wanted to help John out by naming who they thought did the better job. “Oh, come on. You guys are worthless,” John joked.

“I think Zoe has consistently shown me that she is so poised, such a gifted singer, so beyond her years,” John told the younger artist. “You’re gonna dominate in whatever realm you wanna do, so thank you for letting me work with you.” Moving on, he old Will, “You do have that fire and that energy that everyone is so attracted to. I don’t know what’s gonna happen next. When certain people do that it makes me feel uneasy, but when you do it, it makes me feel excited because I know you’re gonna pull it off. It’s really fun to watch you perform, hear your creativity, hear your artistry. The winner of this Knockout is Will.”

Explaining his decision further, John revealed, “Will is so creative with his vocal choices. He’s really, really exciting to watch and I’m excited to continue to coach him.” Will teared up backstage, calling his success so far on the show “unreal.” Can he go on to win “The Voice” for Team Legend?

In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper Denton Davidson had this to say about the performance: “Will is up next with his rendition of ‘I Don’t Care’ and I’m immediately impressed with his charisma. This guy has major star quality and knows how to work the stage. It all makes the crazy notes he’s hitting seem effortless. John can’t deny that Will absolutely must stay in this competition and he’s won this knockout. Kelly is out of steals and is devastated she can’t take Zoe, but Zoe’s been eliminated from the competition.”
