Is everyone on “World of Dance” simply waiting to lose the million-dollar grand prize to The Kings? The Indian hip-hop crew has dominated the competition all season, but they may meet their match in the World Final when they finally face off against a team from elsewhere in Asia: the Junior Team Division crew VPeepz from the Philippines, who seem to be peaking at just the right time. Watch their Divisional Final performance above.
The cleanliness, complexity and synchronicity of VPeepz’s routines are above reproach, so while they don’t fly as high as The Kings, these teenage hip-hop dynamos might have them beat for pure technical precision. This latest hard-hitting performance to Nelly and Fergie‘s “Party People” had an MMA cage fight motif and black-and-orange jumpsuits they used to highlight their intricate shapes and movements. And don’t forget their sense of humor. They used one clever formation to simulate a member of the team getting her legs broken in midair.
“There are very few people in this competition that even come close,” said Ne-Yo about their synchronicity. He gave them a 96 while Jennifer Lopez gave them a 95 and Derek Hough scored them 97, resulting in an average of 96.0. That was enough to win the Junior Team Division and earn them a spot in the World Final next week. It probably wouldn’t be enough to beat The Kings, whose lowest score so far this season has been 97.7, but the judges have never had to compare the two teams side-by-side before, and VPeepz have really found their groove.
Last year’s “World of Dance” champs The Lab came from the Junior Team Division, so watch out. These minors are a major threat to win.
