Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Kenan Thompson is entering the “Saturday Night Live” episode “At Home #2” as his 2020 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. This program aired April 25 and was the 17th episode of the 45th season for the NBC show.
In this installment with an opening by Brad Pitt as Dr. Fauci, Thompson plays Diondre Cole, host of “What Up with That?,” released convict O.J. Simpson and former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz.
Thompson is a past Emmy winner for Original Music and Lyrics among his four career nominations. For this 2020 contest, he is competing against reigning champ Tony Shalhoub (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), past winners Andre Braugher (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and Sterling K. Brown (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), previous nominees Mahershala Ali (“Ramy”), Alan Arkin (“The Kominsky Method”) and Dan Levy (“Schitt’s Creek”), plus rookie contender William Jackson Harper (“The Good Place”).
