‘The Masked Singer’ sing-along recap: Get your quarantine on with the Top 7 celebs [UPDATING LIVE BLOG]

Wednesday night on Fox, “The Masked Singer” took a break from the normal competition to host a fun sing-along spectacular with the Top 7 celebs: Turtle, Banana, Frog, Kitty, Astronaut, Night Angel and Rhino. Quarantined viewers found themselves singing along with the bouncing bubbles as the remaining contestants gave it their all on the stage. Nobody was eliminated this week by judges Robin Thicke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy and Ken Jeong, but new clues for the disguised crooners were presented to help your personal guessing games at home.

8:00 p.m. — “Previously on ‘The Masked Singer’!” In last week’s 11th episode, four masked singers faced off in two separate battles: Night Angel vs. Kangaroo and Turtle vs. Astronaut. The bottom two contestants were Kangaroo and Astronaut, who then had to engage in a dramatic smackdown. The judges voted to save Astronaut, thereby sending Kangaroo back down under. “I was shook! You guys were really off every week, but this time you got it,” Jordyn Woods told Nick Cannon after unmasking as the Kangaroo. How will tonight’s sing-along play out?

8:05 p.m. — Tonight is the very special sing-along spectacular where we will revisit the two most memorable performances of the final seven contestants and hear a special farewell song from the previously eliminated singers. First up is Turtle, who made his “Masked Singer” debut right after the Super Bowl earlier this year. He’s been excited to perform new styles and genres that he’s never been able to before wearing his costume. Let’s take a look back at his clues: A surfboard, a can of pop and a “Shellboy” comic book. That’s led to panel guesses including Zac Efron, Nick Lachey, Adam Lambert and Joey McIntire. How’s that for a boy band? Do YOU know who Turtle is? Even though he’s a punk rock’n roll Turtle, he picked his first song, “Kiss From a Rose” by Seal to show his softer side right off the bat.

8:07 p.m. — The Banana is keeping the sing-along moving and says the show has been a challenge because he can hardly see in his costume. But a little danger is a small price to pay for doing what he loves the most — being the life of the party and entertaining an audience. But have YOU figured out his identity based on his clues? We’ve seen a blow fish, a dog collar and a super sexy mullet. This led the panel to think Banana was Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy, Billy Ray Cyrus or Brett Michaels. Now that’s a funny bunch! For his flashback performance we see “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

8:10 p.m. — Now it’s time to hear more from the Kitty. Since adopting her Kitty mask, she’s had a ball breaking out of her litter box both on and off the stage. She’s embraced her new sexy, confident personality in her real life, even in front of her family who has no idea she’s on the show. But do YOU know who Kitty is? We’ve seen clues like dueling pirates, a red hooded cape and a Christmas tree. This had the panel sniffing around names like Sarah Hyland, Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Richie and Amanda Seyfried. Quite a litter of guesses! To show off her range, we see Kitty’s performance of “Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande.

8:12 p.m. — Now let’s leap to sing along with the next of the Mighty Seven — Frog. He is loving each and every performance and is so “hoppy” he gets to entertain YOU on the biggest stage in the world. He’s dripping with confidence and dripping with sweat after dancing in that costume. But who is the Frog? We’ve seen hints like a knight, hush puppies and toy soldiers. That led the panel to leap at rappers like Omarion and Ray J as well as funny cats like Kevin Hart and Alfonso Ribeiro. Frog chose his first performance, “U Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer because he loves hip-hop classics.

8:18 p.m. — It’s the Astronaut’s turn next. In space, no one can hear you sing, so it has been an incredible experience for the Astronaut to show off his voice in a new way. Having an amazing group of supporters around him has kept his mission under control. But who is the Astronaut? He’s shown us helpful clues like a pair of dice (both rolled to 5), a broken vinyl record (with a picture of the world on it) and constellation flag. On the panel’s radar have been guesses like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adam DeVine, Lance Bass and Ryan Tedder. A truly out of this world group! Now we’re singing along to his performance of “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran.

8:21 p.m. — We now continue with the Night Angel. Floating into this competition has been absolutely divine for her. In her life she’s constantly on the go, but this experience has allowed her to focus just on music. But who is she? Night Angel has shown us clues like the bumblebee and crown in her bag, a lip stick heart and a magic tricycle. This led the panel to guess she was Lil’ Kim, Toni Braxton, Taraji P. Henson or Keke Palmer. We’d go to that concert! She loves her first sing-a-long song because it’s all about girl power, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” by Shania Twain.

8:24 p.m. — To finish up the Mighty Seven’s first round of songs, it’s Rhino. He’s having a blast singing on that stage, although he’s not used to wearing his heart on his sleeve. He’s shown us clues like a diamond ring, the Grand Ole Opry and a “Faith” sign. The panel has guessed athletes like Tim Tebow and Ryan Lochte as well as country stars like Tim McGraw and Jason Aldean. What a fearsome foursome! Rhino’s first song tonight “Nice to Meet Ya” by Niall Horan.

8:32 p.m. — The sing-a-long continues with the Frog. He’s his own worst critic when it comes to his performances, practicing 24/7 to make sure he makes them all an A++. But this next song he’s been singing since he was a tadpole so he had it locked down. How could he not kill “Jump” by Kriss Kross? Up next, the Banana loves this show so much because it brings people together. That’s why he chose his next song, “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers.

8:45 p.m. — The Night Angel is up again and she can barely see a thing in her costume. She wears a ski mask and turns off all the lights when she practices at home. Her second song tonight is “Shout” by The Isley Brothers. Next is the Astronaut and his next performance is important to him because he’s actually friends with the original artist. He’s singing “Signed, Sealed and Delivered” by Stevie Wonder. Next, the sing-a-long stampede continues with Rhino. His massive head has given him some massive headaches and he chose this next ballad, “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, to show his softer side.

8:55 p.m. — The Turtle is up again and after starting the season with two ballads, he picked this next song to pick up the pace and show he has a fun side. Turtle is singing “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” by Shawn Mendes. Finally, it’s Kitty closing the show singing one of her favorite artists. She was scared she wouldn’t be able to pull off “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Celine Dion, but she summoned the courage and pulled it off.

8:59 p.m. — For the grand finale tonight the season’s eliminated contestants band together to sing “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. It was so bad that the two actual professional singers, Chaka Khan and Dionne Warwick, opted just to say a few words and didn’t even partake in singing along to this train wreck. Next week, the competition will continue as we get one step closer to someone winning the golden mask.
