The 2022 MTV Movie & TV Awards returned on Sunday, June 5, with Hollywood’s biggest names competing for Golden Popcorn trophies. The event was hosted by Vanessa Hudgens, a previous nominee for “High School Musical 3” (2008) and “Spring Breakers” (2012), along with former star of “The Bachelorette,” Tayshia Adams.
Emmy and Grammy nominee Jennifer Lopez is this year’s recipient of the Generation Award. The honor “celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names.” Last year’s recipient was Scarlett Johansson and past luminaries to receive it include Dwayne Johnson, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Cruise, and more. Jack Black will be presented with with the Comedic Genius Award

Bethenny Frankel will make her status official by receiving the Reality Royalty Award. The “Real Housewives of New York” star, mogul, philanthropist, and best-selling author of the recent book “Business Is Personal: The Truth About What it Takes to Be Successful While Staying True to Yourself” will be celebrated by the award that recognizes the legacy of reality greatness — and was presented to the cast of “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” at last year’s inaugural UNSCRIPTED ceremony.
Sony/Marvel’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” leads the movie field with seven noms including for Best Movie. HBO’s “Euphoria” has the most bids on the TV side with six, while “RuPaul’s Drag Race” leads the Unscripted lineup with four nominations. The MTV Movie & TV Awards air Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. The global event continues with Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
