For years, Tom O'Brien was a part of the Goldderby Emmy forums as an undercover voter (code name: helmetz) and reported all the behind-the-scenes dirt that went on those notorious Emmy voting panels. Since at-home Emmy voting began, he has sought the valuable advice of Goldderby readers in determining which Emmy writing submissions to review for nominations. Since 2016, however, O'Brien has burst out of the Emmy closet and now writes as himself for the site on a wide variety of subjects. He has not, as rumor has it, attended every Emmy ceremony since 1961. The truth is, he couldn't get tickets that year.
