Bio
Tony Ruiz was once told by his parents that he spent too much time watching television. But now they see that it has paid off. He loves writing about the Daytime Emmys, particularly because the episode submissions still matter there. An unabashed fan of multi-camera sitcoms, he can recite every line of dialogue from “The Golden Girls” by heart. He loves taking aim at Emmy voters for certain criminal snubs—namely Hugh Laurie (“House”) and Ian McShane (“Deadwood”). His favorite Oscar win was Martin Scorsese (“The Departed”), but he prefers to think of it as a win for “Goodfellas,” which is still his favorite film of all time.
