The 2021 SAG nominations were announced virtually on Thursday, February 7. The list of nominees for the Screen Actors Guild Awards was unveiled by Lily Collins and Daveed Diggs on Instagram Live. The 27th Annual SAG Awards, honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2020, will be presented on Sunday, April 4, 2021 on both TNT and TBS beginning at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. PT.
Last year, the guild foresaw 14 of the 20 nominees for acting at the Oscars. That was the benchmark it reached in both 2013 and 2014 as well. In both 2018 and 2019, SAG hit 75% (15 of 20). And in both 2015 and 2017, it did even better with 17 of 20. However, in 2016 SAG previewed only a lucky 13 Academy Awards contenders.
The SAG Awards roster was decided by a randomly selected nominations panel comprising 2,500 members of the merged Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists unions. The winners will be decided by all 121,000 members of SAG-AFTRA.
