Critics Choice TV Awards nominations: Complete list of contenders

The 2022 Critics Choice Awards nominations for TV were announced on December 6 with HBO’s family drama “Succession” earning eight nominations. Next in line with five bids apiece were HBO’s limited series “Mare of Easttown” and Paramount +’s drama series “Evil.” The critics’ group also created a brand new category this year, Best Foreign Language Series, no doubt in response to the behemoth that is Netflix’s “Squid Game” — the Korean drama contends there and in two other categories. See the complete list of Critics Choice TV nominations below.

The trophies for television and film will be handed out Sunday, January 9 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. The show will be simulcast on CW and TBS live from 7-10 p.m. ET (delayed on the West Coast). Last year, “The Crown” and “Ted Lasso” won the most TV prizes with four and three, respectively. The awards are voted on by members of the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA).

“Although the industry is still recovering from the Covid-19 lockdown, you wouldn’t know it from the wealth of amazing television programs our nomination committees pored through to come up with this year’s nominees,” announced Ed Martin, president of the Critics Choice Association TV Branch. “We have even more choices than we did before the pandemic for critics and viewers to embrace. While the streamers continue to break new ground with some wonderfully unexpected offerings, it has been an unusually strong year for all areas of television.”
