Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Bradley Whitford is entering “The Handmaid’s Tale” episode “Testimony” as his 2021 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Supporting Actor. This program streamed June 2 and was the eighth episode of the fourth season for the Hulu show.
In this installment, June (Elisabeth Moss) is now testifying in a criminal trial focused on abuse in Gilead. Commander Lawrence (Whitford) confronts Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) about her anger and cattle prod abuse following the testimony. He encourages her to channel her rage now that a fugitive handmaid has been captured in Chicago.
This year marks the eighth career Emmy nomination for Whitford with three previous wins. For this 2021 contest, he is competing against co-stars O-T Fagbenle and Max Minghella, Giancarlo Esposito (“The Mandalorian”), John Lithgow (“Perry Mason”), Tobias Menzies (“The Crown”), Chris Sullivan (“This Is Us”) and Michael K. Williams (“Lovecraft Country”).
