Carl Clemons-Hopkins (‘Hacks’): Emmys 2021 episode submission revealed

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Carl Clemons-Hopkins is entering the “Hacks” episode “New Eyes” as their 2021 Emmy Awards submission for Best Comedy Supporting Actor. This program streamed May 27 and was the sixth episode of the first season for the HBO Max show.

In this installment, Marcus (Clemons-Hopkins) is the chief operating officer for comedienne Deborah (Jean Smart), and abandoned on going on a retreat with her. She chooses writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) instead.

This year marks the first career Emmy nomination for Clemons-Hopkins. For this 2021 contest, they are competing against “Saturday Night Live” stars Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang, “Ted Lasso” stars Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed and Jeremy Swift, plus Paul Reiser (“The Kominsky Method”).
