Jurnee Smollett (‘Lovecraft Country’): Emmys 2021 episode submission revealed

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Jurnee Smollett is entering the “Lovecraft Country” episode “Holy Ghost” as her 2021 Emmy Awards submission for Best Drama Actress. This program aired August 30 and was the third episode of the first season for the HBO show.

In this installment, Leti (Smollett) buys a rundown Victorian mansion with her inheritance from her mother. She welcomes Black renters into the a neighborhood filled with all whites. With assistance from a medium, she banishes an evil ghost.

This year marks her first career Emmy nomination. For this 2021 contest, she is competing against “The Crown” stars Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin, Uzo Aduba (“In Treatment”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”) and Mj Rodriguez (“Pose”).
