It’s really too early to tell at this point in the year who belongs in lead or supporting. Both of her prior nominations are in lead, and as far as I know, she hasn’t submitted supporting for more than 15 years. I see no reason to assume she’d drop down to supporting now.March 15, 2018 at 10:09 am #1202513777
It is early in the year and rather hard to tell who will net out where. I will say my gut feeling on the particular scenes we’re talking about for Kassie DePaiva is that they’re lead actress scenes. But that doesn’t really mean much. So far, the females who stand out mostly strongly as leads to me are Kristian Alfonso, Camila Banus, and Marci Miller, but DePaiva seems right behind that, followed by Mary Beth Evans.March 15, 2018 at 10:49 am #1202513805
^I agree with that assessment. Melissa Reeves is borderline lead/support this year too.March 22, 2018 at 11:06 am #1202517689

Best Actor: Thad Luckinbill as J.T., The Young and the Restless
Best Actress: Amelia Heinle as Victoria, The Young and the Restless
While I have enormous misgivings with their storyline – and the violence in the episode – the acting performances by both were astonishing today, truly superb performances. Victoria has been really out of control and her quick re-start to her relationship with J.T. has been part of that recklessness. AH was heartbreaking in her scenes and TL matched her with a well modulated acting performance that moved me.
Best Supporting Actress: Marla Adams as Dina, The Young and the Restless
I pretty much want to cite her every single episode she appears in; I know she won’t last for much longer, let’s face it there really isn’t anywhere for this story to go but a sad ending ): MA has been amazing, phenomenal, astonishing, brilliant and all the other superlatives one can think of! I hope she wins this year’s Emmy and has the material already to win next year’s Emmy. She is playing with such gusto and yet it’s completely right! (:March 24, 2018 at 11:58 am #1202518584
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Billy Miller as Drew Cain
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Kelly Monaco as Sam McCall-Cain
Sam pours her heart out to Drew and admits that she has feelings for Jason and is torn between the two brothers, while Drew struggles to comprehend her heartbreaking truth.
A terrific pair of performances. His re-ACTING was great and really made the scene for me.

Days of our Lives
Outstanding Younger Actor: Casey Moss
Outstanding Supporting Actress: Sal Stowers
The truth comes out in Court about Lani and Eli and Lani tries to explain herself to JJ.
Really good stuff from these two on yesterday’s episode! I thought they both sold the moment and brought all of the emotion that we needed. We got the big moments in the courtroom and then some quieter, pure emotional stuff when they were alone. I thought the episode as a whole was really solid and had 3 big cliffhangers and I was on the cusp of citing it for drama series. I also wanted to give a shout out to Wally Kurth and Laura Kai Trask for their work on this episode and Thursday’s. Not necessarily Emmy worthy, but I really enjoyed their opening statements on Thursday and then their head to head after Lani’s testimony on Friday.March 26, 2018 at 1:42 pm #1202519442

Best Younger Actor: Casey Moss, Days
Best Supporting Actress: Camila Banus, Days
Best Supporting Actress: Sal Stowers, Days
Fallout from the paternity revelation meant great scenes for J.J., Lani and Gabi. I particularly want to praise Camila Banus: I love Gabi’s strength, considering she is on trial for murder and very stressed but she is a very strong woman. This would be a terrific Emmy reel episode for all 3 of these terrific actors.
Honorable mention for Marla Adams. I love all of her performances and today she had a nice range of emotions as she continued to film her life story with Abby.March 26, 2018 at 10:34 pm #1202519668
I agree with the citations for DAYS from Friday’s and Monday’s episodes, and also want to officially cite Laura Kai Chen for Friday’s episode (in supporting actress I guess). Between the scenes in the courtroom where Melinda Trask regains control of the situation after Lani’s confession and the sparring with Justin in the hallway, she came close to stealing what was an otherwise riveting episode for me.
Casey Moss really stood out for me both days, especially Monday, as I think he nailed every emotion. Camila Banus was also aces Monday, and got the funniest line of the episode to boot: “I want to be alone now, so please take me back to my cell.” Poor Gabi. Lamon Archey and Sal Stowers were very good as well.March 27, 2018 at 3:01 am #1202519733

Best Drama Series
The Young and the Restless
While I am extremely troubled by the character assassination of J.T. at the altar of the Newman’s, the episode was extremely well produced and directed. Every single scene was well developed, well-acted, paced, and there was much suspense throughout the episode. The show started with Hillary and went back 3 hours in time and filled int he details. This would be a really great submission for Y&R, it moved well through each story.March 28, 2018 at 7:59 am #1202520335

Best Supporting Actress: Marla Adams, Y&R
I wanted to cite her specifically for the scene where Dina bursts into tears outside the motel room door. Her scenes with Melissa Ordway have been enormously touching and moving (: Her disdain for Ashley, who she thinks is an employee, was a realistic touch too. I am enjoying her acting so much!April 2, 2018 at 2:59 pm #1202523106

Days of our Lives
Outstanding Lead Actor – Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson)
Outstanding Lead Actress – Mary Beth Evans (Dr. Kayla Johnson)
Kayla tries to share a few moments of levity with Steve, but he confesses that his vision has gotten worse and he can no longer see anything. She takes him to see his specialist, and the two share the sad update with Marlena and a guilt-ridden John. Steve and Kayla try to accept this new reality, with Steve using a cane and dark glasses to avoid further eye irritation and having to give up his signature patch. After weeks of trying to be strong, Steve breaks down in Kayla’s arms.
The writing and acting in these scenes were both really strong and really heartbreaking. Steve seemed somewhat prepared for losing his sight, but now has to cope with feeling like he’s losing his identity, having to give up is patch and no longer able to work cases at the detective agency. That sense of loss is in almost every line here, and Kayla, who was already feeling helpless in her inability to find a medical solution for him, now feels doubly helpless because of Steve’s added sorrow. The performances and the natural rapport Stephen and Mary Beth share made these scenes feel incredibly real.April 3, 2018 at 9:31 am #1202523553

Days of our Lives
Lead Actress: Marci Miller
Abby goes to Marlena fearing she’s losing it.
I think Marci has been great in this story and this episode as a whole was a good showcase for her. She perfectly portrayed all the emotions, her fear, confusion etc. She was really raw with her emotions and I think this would make a good contrast to some of the other stuff with the alters.April 5, 2018 at 10:04 am #1202524598
^^Yes, this could actually go very well with the alters fighting in the episode before.April 5, 2018 at 2:39 pm #1202524771

Totally agree that Marci rocked this episode as Abigail. When she was hearing the Gabby and Dr. Laura voices in her head it was mesmerizing.
I would also submit this episode for series as the Will/Paul, scenes were also very good.
