I think Budig might have been over the limit but she’s a worthy nominee. I have no clue what Hughes is nominated for especially in lead. I doubt Howarth submitted.

    Full nominee list here: https://theemmys.tv/daytime-47th-nominations/

Interesting to me is that The View now submitted as an informative rather than as an entertainment talk show.

And Patrika Darbo, who had her Daytime Emmy revoked a couple of years ago, is now nominated for supporting actress in a digital drama series!

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood…..Where is she? And yes Camilla Banus!?!?

Happy for Jason Thompson. Eric Braeden keeps getting snubbed.

The actor who played Kyle in Y&R????

I was stunned Thaao got nominated. He’s more Guest Performer. Shemar Moore better get nominated.

Lindsey Godfrey should have gotten in over Susan Seaforth Hayes.

Second year there are no Y&R nominations in Lead Actress. Sharon Case?

Just realized: no Max Gail! and no Laura Wright or Peter Bergman this year…

Sharon Case better be nominated next year! She’s been the only reason to watch Y&R so far in 2020.

Supporting Actor is the strongest category for me this year.

GH leads with 10 acting nominations, Days and Y&R have 8 each, and B&B trails with 4.

I hope Eva LaRue wins Guest Performer.

Kristoff St. John’s tribute will win Special Class Special.

    B&B might win Writing

As usual, GH and Y&R ruled the techies

I like to know what each of the soaps submitted for Drama Series?

Thorsten Kaye!! I believe he just made history with his first lead actor nomination for his work on B&B! Congrats!! No Scott Clifton though? Thaao Penghlis is a huge surprise! He’s always fabulous in any scene he’s in, so his nomination wouldn’t come as undeserving; just really nice that he chose to throw his hat into the lead actor ring!

Interesting Mark Grossman chose to go supporting (I had him pegged more as a lead player). Disappointed Eric Martsolf and Greg Vaughan (the only two previous supporting actor winners for DAYS) were left off the list (perhaps Martsolf submitted in lead?), but at least Wally Kurth scored a very deserving nom.

The ladies just CRUSHED IT in the Younger Performer category! Most surprised by (American Idol alum!) Thia Megia; I had honestly considered her as I was compiling my pre-noms list, but thought she might’ve already missed the age cut-off for submissions to this category. Congrats to her for being the sole Asian acting nominee this year lol

These noms! I’m not mad about a lot of them, but some are crazy. The whole guest performer category seems pretty wild, but given that we had people in lead and supporting who I would have put in guest, who knows who was even in that category to choose from.

The most ridiculous category for my money is lead actor. Jon Lindstrom is great, but when’s the last time he was on an episode for more than three or four minutes? He’s among the numerous people who seem to be in the wrong category. But I wouldn’t have considered the other four at all, though I’m sure they submitted something good. It’s nice to change things up at least. It would have been cool to see some actors who have had success at other levels and are now leads (Eric Martsolf, Bryton James, Greg Vaughan) filling those slots.

Having five women in younger performer proves that combining the categories was a bust. Then again, how many eligible males were in contention last year, and how many are now? I haven’t seen much of Sasha Calle, so I’ll refrain from hypothetically rescinding her nomination, and Eden McCoy, Katelyn MacMullen, and Olivia Rose Keegan all fully deserve those nods. I’d be happy for a win from any of them. Thia Megia getting in is shocking. She had lots of story, but the character was incredibly one-note. William Lipton would have been a better nom, as would pretty much any of the other eligible actors from DAYS.

I’m very disappointed Camila Banus didn’t crack the (I assume) lead actress lineup, but not surprised. It’s stunning that Finola Hughes submitted in lead, since I feel like we spent most of 2019 waiting for Anna to come back from her secret mission. But if Tony Geary can get nominated only working half the year and with kind of a bullsh*t storyline, then so can she. I would love to see Arianne Zucker finally get a win, but the last time she, Heather Tom and Katherine Kelly Lang were all nominated together, they all lost to Queen Eileen. Maura West had a huge year and could just steamroll the competition.

The supporting categories had some delightful surprises. I am THRILLED that Paul Telfer and Rebecca Budig were nominated. I think Budig made the right call going supporting. She was back on the show for quite a while. Hopefully this inspires GH to bring her back. Ditto the nomination for Chandler Massey with DAYS. It’s nice to see newer names like Mark Grossman and Annika Noelle also being recognized.

Overall, these aren’t exactly the noms I wanted, but I’ll take them. The nominations totals essentially followed the acting totals for the top shows, with GH narrowly edging out DAYS, which narrowly edged out Y&R. The tech noms were fairly uniform, with all the shows nominated for lighting, casting, technical team, multi-camera editing, sound mixing, and of course writing and directing. GH got a song nomination for Cam’s song at the Nurses Ball, which is cool.

I wonder if they will let us know about the Emmy reel submissions? They kept the pre-nominations a secret so I am thinking they might not ever let us know…
