Tonight CBS airs the Daytime Emmy Awards for excellence in daytime during the calendar year 2020. Here is a thread where we can discuss the broadcast – the good, the bad & the ugly of it! (; React to the winners, the acceptance speeches, the actual broadcast… The show begins at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.June 25, 2021 at 3:20 pm #1204318292
I am happy to kick things off!
Outstanding Casting – General Hospital
Outstanding Technical Team – General Hospital
Congratulations to all!June 25, 2021 at 3:25 pm #1204318297
Not technically part of the broadcast, but the Daytime Emmys have already presented 19 wins for craft categories on Twitter. Notably, GH has won Emmys for outstanding casting (showing a clip of Cyrus with his mother) and outstanding technical team (with a clip from the bridge collapse that separated Sonny from his family over six months ago). Congrats!June 25, 2021 at 3:38 pm #1204318314
currently the best of the 4 daytime soaps IMOJune 25, 2021 at 3:50 pm #1204318333
Glad to see GH is off to a great start! Two fully deserved Emmys for Casting and Technical Team!!!! I am really hoping GH does well tonight!June 25, 2021 at 4:18 pm #1204318377
Does anyone here know if any of the Craft Categories act as a precursor to the bigger awards like they do at the Primetime Emmys and OSCARs for example?!
Does Casting bode well for Drama Series?
Does Technical Team strengthen the chances for Directing Team?
Ideas? Thoughts? Any Emmy buffs in the house that have this type of data lol 😉June 25, 2021 at 4:41 pm #1204318398
^Sometimes yes, sometimes no. As The World Turns scored big on both nominations and wins for the calendar year 2000. But there have been other years where shows have won a ton of crafts Emmys and then won practically no awards on the televised awards.
I am wondering aloud if any of the 3 shows – B&B, Days, or Y&R – might get completely shut out from the televised awards this year? It could happen. It won’t happen to GH imo.June 25, 2021 at 5:00 pm #1204318427
Here we go…………..June 25, 2021 at 5:05 pm #1204318432
Yes………Marla Adams wonJune 25, 2021 at 5:06 pm #1204318434
Nice, we’re getting clips.
Good for Adams, she had the best clip.June 25, 2021 at 5:08 pm #1204318441
So incredibly happy about Marla Adams winning!!! She deserved it!
I am two for two so far since Max Gail won as expected. Interesting that he is there in person??? Confused by it!June 25, 2021 at 5:08 pm #1204318443
Congratulations to Max GailJune 25, 2021 at 5:08 pm #1204318445
Wow, both supporting trophies go to actors playing people dying of Alzheimer’s.June 25, 2021 at 5:12 pm #1204318448
So how was it that Max Gail was there in person? Steve Burton was apparently wrong about the format??? Did Marla know she had won, she had an Emmy behind her or was that an Emmy on a Y&R set??
I felt that both Alzheimer’s characters were going to win. Both are no longer on their shows too.
I am bursting with joy that Marla Adams has won!!!June 25, 2021 at 5:17 pm #1204318452
