Thorsten Kaye was pitch perfect in that episode and would be an Exceptional tape for him to submit. Frankly he was so natural, so nuanced, so real, so tender yet forceful and fun all at the same time. B&B took a major step up in the writing department last week. They tend to do it 1-2 weeks a year. If they submit the Mon or Thurs episode from last week, they’d be a strong contender for writing.

I am citing Victoria Konefal as Ciara on Days – Ciara gets her memories back! VK delivers a strong performance and it is sultry and warm too.

I am citing Joyce Guy for her phenomenal performance as Phyllis on GH learns that Lenny has died – she had me in tears! Cynthia Watros was amazing as well. Just beautiful…

^^^ Beautiful, understated work from Laura Wright here too (Carly’s intimate conversation with an imaginary Sonny) along with some nice direction throughout (especially Lenny’s death) by Gary Tomlin! Lucky Gold & Co. also did a really wonderful job writing the scenes particularly at the Tan-O in the previous day’s (Thurs 8/12) episode.

Lawrence St.-Victor has made an interesting (and quite unexpected!) new addition to B&B’s writing team and shows real promise!

I remember Lawrence St. Victor talking about writing scripts when he was on the SOD podcast, but that was a while ago, and I totally forgot about it. Did he write one of those wedding episodes? If so, I’m quite impressed.

^^^ Yes, I’ve noticed LSV’s name pop up more frequently in the writing credits these last couple months. I believe the Monday 8/2 episode (highlighting the events of the day leading up to the ceremony, so not the wedding and reception itself) is the most recent one to air in which he is credited; a commendable effort!

Last Friday’s episode of GH would be an excellent Outstanding Writing submission for the show. Lenny’s death and the “ghost” of Sonny talking to Carly were very strong in their writing. Friday, August 13, 2021.
