It always amazes me how the rules and voting has changed over the years. When the Daytime Emmys first started they would pick three or 4 episodes for peer voting then they went to two episodes for peer voting then the prenomination rounds came in then for a few years they did one episode for peer voting then back to two now back to four episodes. The Emmy system is crazy but I agree with it. It makes it fair to judge based off episodes picked by said actor or producer. I wish I could judge a category.

Lead Actress
The actress I ranked last has won this category the last five years now. When the nominations came out, I immediately thought Egan was filler/5th place. So I’m predicting her for the win!
Prediction- Egan
Wild Card- Grahn

Supporting Actor
Daytime voters love prime time actors!
Prediction- Gail
Wild Card- Kober

Supporting Actress
Prediction- Hennesy (She didn’t have much story but her acting was pitch-perfect during Alexis’ alcoholism story)
Wild Card- Braun (voters obviously love her!)

Younger Performer
The younger categories have always been kooky. Ridiculously good looking men with less than stellar acting skills win quite often. I’d say Bellow fits that description pretty well.

Last minute predictions:

Drama Series
Prediction: General Hospital (even though they maybe submitted the voting episode)
Likely Challenger: The Bold and the Beautiful
Wild Card: Days of our Lives

Lead Actress
Prediction: Genie Francis
Likely Challenger: Nancy Lee Grahn
Wild Card: Jacqueline MacInnes Wood
Genie’s a veteran who submitted really strong work. I don’t know that JMW and NLG will cancel each other out with addiction stories, but I’m giving NLG the edge because her story had more layers to it.

Lead Actor
Prediction: Maurice Benard
Likely Challenger: Wally Kurth
Wild Card: Steve Burton
At this point Maurice feels like a strong favorite with the emotional material he had and appearing on a bunch of reels, but I’m not counting out Wally and his good work or even Steve who, though he submitted material where his character is in a supporting capacity, kind of outacted everyone in his scenes, including Maurice.

Supporting Actress
Prediction: Carolyn Hennessy
Likely Challenger: Marla Adams
Wild Card: Tamara Braun
This category feels like a total crap shoot. Marla has been great in this storyline and this feels like a nice swan song, but winners in this category have not gone that direction lately, so I’ll go with Carolyn for the win. But Tamara has won for this role before and tends to play well to the panels, so I won’t count her out.

Supporting Actor
Prediction: James Patrick Stuart
Likely Challenger: Max Gail
Wild Card: Bryton James
Going with JPS based on him being the most dynamic actor on the list and having what I’d guess is the most enjoyable reel. Max seems like a sentimental favorite, but he didn’t have much active screen time in 2020 and is a recent winner for this story. I don’t really get Bryton winning last year, but he plays well to the panels, so who knows.

Younger Performer
Prediction: Victoria Konefal
Likely Challenger: Katelyn MacMullen
Wild Card: Alyvia Alyn Lind
More than any of the others, Victoria feels like a star in the making, which will probably help her here, and her character did a lot of heavy lifting in 2020. Alyvia is also moving on to other things, so that could give her a boost. It’s a great group, and I’m sure all the reels are good. Katelyn’s reel is probably quite strong but may be too weepy for a win.

Guest Performer
Prediction: Cady McClain
Likely Challenger: Victoria Platt
Wild Card: Kim Delaney
Cady is kind of in the sweet spot here where she’s a pretty big name, playing a character with a ton of history, stepped in for a daytime icon, and is involved in a big emotional storyline. I don’t want to count out Briana Lane, but Cady kind of dwarfs her in many respects. Victoria did a great job in her highly emotional scenes. Kim’s performance is relatively low key among this bunch, but she’s Kim Delaney.

I have been so torn about the Guest Performer category – I have a strong feeling that Briana Lane is going to win based on her reel, but then Cady McClain and Kim Delaney seem likely too. I don’t think George DelHoyo or Victoria Platt have any chance at all. But you never know with the panels what they will do!

So my final predictions are:

My final predictions…

Drama: My gut is telling me to go with Days but not count out Y&R, GH, or B&B.

Lead Actor: My mind is telling me it Wally Kurth but Bernard might win. I’d be happy for either one. Hell I’d be happy if Zamprogna won.

Lead Actress: This Emmy has Jacqueline MacIness Wood name on it but I wouldn’t be surprised if Francis or Egan won.

Supporting Actor: I’d like for Bryton or Darrin to win but I wouldn’t be upset if Gail or Stuart won.

Supporting Actress: Tamara is my choice but Hope is a close second and Adams third. Hennessy and Nicole are good actors. It doesn’t matter fr.

Younger Performer: Victoria Konefal and Alyvia Alyn Lind are my top two choices.

Writing: I’m unsure about what episodes were picked but I’ll just go with B&B but GH could win.

Directing: GH deserves to win but Days could win. Who knows.

Guest Performer: Cady McClain is my pick but Briana Lane or the guy who plays Orpheus on Days could win. I’ll never forget a few years ago when Jim OHeir won instead of Nichelle Nichols. Idk it’s a good category.

lincelts and alokin both got 6 of 9 correct. EmmyLoser got 5 of 9. Adejahcatharbin got 3 of 9 correct. It was tough since we didn’t see the reels. I got 6 of 9 on here, but will admit I switched at the last minute from Cady McClain, who I was rooting for, to Briana Lane in the prediction center.
