I was checking to see if there were any changes in the predictions center but it’s still split between Y&R and GH for first place in the odds, with Y&R on top for Series, Directing, Actor (Bergman) and Supporting Actor (Vilasuso); and GH for Writing, Actress (Watros), Supporting Actress (Thiebaud) and Younger Performer (Mikayla). The odds are notoriously wrong in the daytime soaps categories each and every year and we often get someone in last place winning a category so who knows how it will really go tomorrow night?
The deadline for changing our predictions is 4 p.m. tomorrow afternoon (I assume EST?).
I am hopedicting GH for Series and Writing – without knowing what was submitted that is all we can do, and I am predicting Beyond Salem for Directing Team only due to the memory of the OLTL reboot winning the award years ago – I really have no idea but that is good of a reason as any!
I am sticking with Watros, McCook, Grahn, Kober, and Lind – I probably won’t do all that well this year, these panelists are all over the place, since each panel is distinct and different.
I am sure there will be at least one huge disappointment and one huge wonderful surprise – that is usually the case. I was happiest last year with Marla Adams’s win for Supporting Actress. It will be fun to have it live and in person this year too.
I hope there is less banter and more clips. I also hope they move it along and get through the other categories quickly! It’s just for fun and it’s o.k. to be unhappy with the winners or to be happy with them too.
ReplyCopy URLJune 23, 2022 at 1:28 pm #1204994383I really don’t think Y&R is winning Directing……..I, too, think BS is winning Directing.
ReplyCopy URLJune 23, 2022 at 2:46 pm #1204994479I’d need to know what Y&R and Beyond Salem picked for their submissions before I can even think about predicting. Based off production values Beyond Salem had good production values but I won’t count anyone out.
ReplyCopy URLJune 23, 2022 at 3:38 pm #1204994539I hope that they actually show the clips, and don’t just do what they did for the guest performer category, which is only show the winners reel, and not the rest of the nominees.
ReplyCopy URLJune 23, 2022 at 6:47 pm #1204994677I am still confused by the new voting by the panelists. Let’s say there are 24 performers who have submitted for Supporting Actress – does each panelist give a score to all 24 performers? Can they give the same score to any and/or all of them? The ordinals system that they used to use when there were pre-nominees made a ton of sense but this new way of voting is very problematic – unless I am misunderstanding how it is done?
Does anybody know how many panelists there are for each category? Does it vary depending on the category? Laura Wright mentioned that she voted in the Supporting Actor category, and Jordi Vilasuso has mentioned he voted in the Lead Actress category – do they try to put an even number of panelists from each show and/or network to make it more fair? So confused!

ReplyCopy URLJune 24, 2022 at 5:02 am #1204994925I am curious to know who people are rooting for? not predicting but who you would most like to see win in each category!
I am rooting for a sweep for GH: Drama Series, Directing, Writing, Actress (Watros), Supporting Actress (Grahn), Supporting Actor (Kober or Stuart), Younger Performer (Mikayla) – and James Reynolds for Best Actor…
Rooting for isn’t the same as predicting, of course!
ReplyCopy URLJune 24, 2022 at 5:02 am #1204994927Tonight will be here before we know it! It is going to be a nervous but interesting night. Good luck to the nominees!
And let’s see how goldderby do with the predictions……….they already got one wrong

I’m rooting for everyone but I’m definitely rooting for who I think will win (Martsolf, Morgan, Vilasuso, Grahn/Ordway, Lind/Arnold/Chavez) but I’m happy for everyone and whomever wins I won’t be mad nor will I complain because I’m not on the Blue Ribbon panel and it wasn’t my decision so I have no say so in who wins and who doesn’t. If I’m wrong about certain categories I take that lost.

Oh that’s so sad ): Why can’t they have them available through zoom or whatever at home since it’s not their fault they have covid? It’s a special circumstance and they should have a way to accept if they win remotely!
ReplyCopy URLJune 24, 2022 at 7:00 am #1204994990I’m going to be rather busy today (I’m rather superstitious) preparing for the event so I’ll lump who I am rooting for and predicting all in one.
Rooting for Y&R in all categories (nearly happened for GH in 2019). Series: Y&R, but I wouldn’t mind if another soap took writing or directing. Then the acting categories: Bergman, Morgan, Vilasuso, Ordway, Lind.
My random spinner picked Bergman today, but I’ll take it with a grain of salt because here are my predictions…
My head says it will be Martsolf or Reynolds. Martsolf has that “jump out of your seat” moment with rising tension, while Reynolds’ is supernatural, sentimental and reflective, similar to the latest winners, or say Billy Miller’s winning 2014 reel when he was with Delia in the future.
My heart says McCook. Bergman and McCook do well to communicate the human condition, but it is McCook that leaves you with tears as you experience his humiliation and defeat in a heartbreaking performance. My heart would be deeply warmed if he won.
I have a feeling Bergman might accept the award on behalf of one of the absent ones, (most likely being Ordway).
Other predictions: Morgan, Stuart, Ordway, Lind. Series: GH, Writing: Y&R, Directing: Days.
I don’t really know how I’ll take it if Beyond Salem wins, but it’s nice to see a new tiger in the mix. I’m done changing my predictions and just leaving it as is. As I said, I’ll be watching with one-eye open! 😉 This feels like a white-knuckle one for sure!
Welcome to the 2022 Daytime Emmys, everyone! Hope it goes well for someone out there!

I hope that’s what they do. After all, they did that for 2020.
ReplyCopy URLJune 24, 2022 at 10:07 am #1204995215I saw the news about Jason Thompson and Melissa Ordway, and it’s such a shame. It would be nice if they could be available virtually to accept if they win.
Predictions aside, I’m always generally rooting for DAYS to do well. I’m rooting for Martsolf and Zucker in lead. Zucker has been overdue for an Emmy for about 12 or 13 years, so it would be nice to see her finally get it. In supporting I’m rooting most strongly for JPS and Kelly Thiebaud, though I really don’t think she has a strong shot to win. Honestly I’ll be very happy for whoever wins younger performer, but I’d be slightly more happy with a win for Lindsay Arnold (again, the DAYS loyalty). I can’t in good faith pull for a DAYS sweep in the top categories, but I don’t think any show deserves one. It would be great to see both DAYS and Beyond Salem win something at the top level. A Beyond Salem win in drama series would be very interesting and weird in a good way. I’d love to see other networks/platforms inspired to do similar offshoots.
I am still confused by the new voting by the panelists. Let’s say there are 24 performers who have submitted for Supporting Actress – does each panelist give a score to all 24 performers? Can they give the same score to any and/or all of them? There’s a cutoff threshold for the number of nominees that would be judged in a category in a single round. If there are more than a certain number of entries, the number is narrowed down through a preliminary voting process. I’m not sure what that number is, but I would guess that 24 would be too many for the blue ribbon judging panel. I don’t know how preliminary judging works exactly, but it’s a process that the Daytime Emmys have been using for years to narrow down all other categories (outside of drama acting categories) to a manageable number for final judging. My assumption is that the pool is split up and judged by different groups that will produce a certain number of participants for the blue ribbon panel to judge. At that point, every blue ribbon panel judge in a category watches each reel and after watching it (or after watching the minimum percent of it that is required, at least) enters a score from 1 to 7. Theoretically a judge could give the same score to every reel. I don’t know how many judges there are per category, but the awards committee has said that it does make an effort to balance potential biases by having the same number of representatives from each show or organization in any given category. Why does it seem problematic? The same scoring system produced all the winners with no ties and no real issues last year.
ReplyCopy URLJune 24, 2022 at 10:12 am #1204995228Thanks Michael! I wonder why they chose the number 7??? It’s very interesting.
I don’t think there will be a sweep for any show but I could see Days not winning any awards tonight. They have been “spreading the wealth” the past several years, it will be interesting to see if that is the case this year.
Younger Performer is the category that for me is the strongest and I could see it going any which way – they all gave such superb performances!
