It’s been reported that Jacqueline MacInnes Wood & Finola Hughes have not submitted for contention this year.
I gotta say, though, Lead Actress is a true bloodbath! I did some digging to review what happened in 2021, and man, GH, has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to leading ladies!
Imagine a scenario that all 5 nominees are a GH actress?
It won’t happen, but imagine this:Genie Francis – for the hostage episodes with Cyrus in June 2021 [which would be fantastic tapes for Drama Series]
Nancy Lee Ghran – for her 25th anniversary episode showcase
Cynthia Watros – for the episodes surrounding her confrontation with Carly post-Nixon Falls
Laura Wright – see above
Maura West – confronting Spencer about the stalking
Let’s be honest; these women are at a point in their careers that they would only submit in lead…
Food for thought!

If that was ever the case I’d give it to Francis who was very good in those scenes. With each show having so many good actresses I’d like to break down the leading ladies of each show. On GH you have Francis, Wright, Grahn, West, and Watros. On Days you have Mary Beth Evans, Deidre Hall, Marci Miller, Allison Sweeney, Arianne Zucker, and Lauren Koslow. On Y&R you have Michelle Stafford, Jess Walton, Eileen Davidson, Melissa Claire Egan, Melody Thomas Scott, and Sharon Case. On B&B you have Katherine Kelly Lang, Heather Tom, and Jacqueline Woods. The competition is crazy good. My gut is telling me Egan and Francis probably got nods maybe even Grahn and Wright.

Michael Fairman is going to do his nominees show on his youtube channel tomorrow night at 8 p.m. EST.

Hoping there are no B&B actresses in the Best Actress category. I would like for GH to finally win another Best Actress trophy but with my luck it will be Laura Wright, who I personally don’t care for because I dislike her character so intensely! (She’s a good actress but no, she’s not the best from GH let alone all of the daytime in 2021).
There are several performers who have great individual episodes for which they could get an “Emmy reel nomination”, such as Melissa Clare Egan (the fakeout to get out of going to prison after poisoning Rey) and Judi Evans (the episode where Bonnie recounts what actually happened years earlier that got her sent to prison was brilliant), and Arianne Zucker (the breakup episode with Eric was superb).
GH got the most nominations last year – let’s see what happens this year.
ReplyCopy URLMay 5, 2022 at 8:10 am #1204942796I think if one category could conceivably be dominated by GH in all the noms it could be GH (especially with the age limit lowered to 21). Lipton, Mikayla, Chavez, and McCoy all had standout moments and have to be all over each other’s reels as well…
ReplyCopy URLMay 5, 2022 at 8:55 am #1204942847I could definitely see GH getting the lion’s share of nominations and certainly dominating the younger performer category. But I’d think that Lindsay Arnold and/or Alyvia Alyn Lind are likely to show up as well.
People seemed to kind of overlook her when we were doing the Goldies, but Arianne Zucker actually had a very strong year overall, and had a great reel of material even before the Eric/Nicole breakup. By the end of the year, we’d also kind of forgotten the gangbusters spring that Marci Miller had with Abigail dealing with Gwen. Emmys have loved her in the past, so I wonder if she’ll show up today.
ReplyCopy URLMay 5, 2022 at 10:49 am #1204943040I would love to see Deidre Hall break her streak of 35 years since her last nomination, I would also like to see Marci Miller nominated, and i would like to see Alyvia Alyn Lynd nominated and win the younger performer category.
ReplyCopy URLMay 5, 2022 at 11:26 am #1204943090Sorry but WHAT?? Why do they keep nominating Bryton James? GH was robbed all over the place, and NO KIRSTEN STORMS??? Just insane! Some truly awful nominees this year and WHAT on earth is Mishael Morgan doing in the lead actress category instead of Sharon Case or Melissa Clare Egan? Grrr!
No GH actors in Best Actor? Really? Peter Bergman again? Oh brother! And Eric Martsolf for Best Actor??? Really?
Nancy submitted in supporting, and I love her and Kelly but where is Lisa and where is KIRSTEN??

Sad for Melissa Claire Egan & Camryn Grimes but happy for Melissa Ordway; hope she submits when she gets word on Chance’s supposed DEATH.
Mishael Morgan for Lead Actress………..she must have submitted the scene with her showdown OUTBURST with her grandfather.
Bryton James………He must have submitted the anniversary death of Neil Winters. John McCook with Eric’s discovery of Quinn & Carter’s affair. That’s probably what he submitted.
James Reynolds??? Trying to think what he did last year to get nominated. Eric Marsolf, YES………
Anything Peter Bergman does is GREAT. Jason Thompson???? Trying to remember what he did last year.
Kimberlin Brown???? She has material for next year but I didn’t think she had anything from last year.

May 5, 2022 at 11:36 am #1204943115No B&B for Writing nor Directing???? Yikes!
Yes for Lindsey Arnold & Alyvia Lind for Younger categories.
NO Marla Gibbs or Telma Hopkins for Guest Performer?????
ReplyCopy URLMay 5, 2022 at 11:37 am #1204943118What is Jeff Kober doing in supporting? Wasn’t he guest last year?
Happy for all the GH actresses nominated. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see NLG pick up her 3rd supporting Emmy.
Shocked to see B&B left out of lead actress and GH left out of lead actor.
GH picked up three very deserving younger noms but surprisingly nothing for McCoy.
So sad for Diedre Hall, Kirsten Storms & Lisa LoCicero.
Happy for all the Beyond Salem nods.
I’m surprised DAYS & Beyond Salem can both be nominated for series, writing and directing. I would think they would have to submit only one or the other. Same for Pat Sajak nominated twice in Game Show Host for 2 different versions of Wheel of Fortune.
ReplyCopy URLMay 5, 2022 at 11:39 am #1204943121Younger Performer (by far the strongest category!):
Lindsay Arnold, Days Of Our Lives
Nicholas Alexander Chavez, General Hospital
Alyvia Alyn Lind, The Young and the Restless
William Lipton, General Hospital
Sidney Mikayla, General HospitalGuest Performer is a mess, and I could only read four of the nominees:
Robert Gossett, General Hospital (really?)
???
Michael Lowry, Days Of Our Lives
Naomi Matsudi, The Bold and the Beautiful
Ptosha Storey, The Young and the RestlessThe poorly written mess that is Y&R got the most nominations.
