ReplyJanuary 17, 2022 at 12:21 pm #1204734148Thanks so much, FreemanGriffin, for doing this. I’m very happy that all my FYCs made it!
I’m curious how many ballots were sent it.

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 17, 2022 at 5:54 pm #1204734719Great nominees! Ballot sent.
A lot of actors I voted for made it but in different categories.
I’m most surprised by Sweeney’s lead nom. I voted for her in guest!
Thanks for putting this together Freeman.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2022 at 1:50 am #1204735343There were 19 actresses cited for Best Actress. Laura Wright was in 6th place and Finola Hughes and Maura West were in 7th.
There 22 actors cited for Best Actor. Michael Easton was in 6th place.
There were 23 actresses cited in Supporting Actress. The actress with the most points in the category got more points in Best Actress and was nominated there instead.
There were 23 actors cited in Supporting Actor. Again, the actor who had the most points had more points in Best Actor and was nominated in that category instead! Bryan Datillo was in 6th place, with Wally Kurth as Ned on GH in 7th.
There were only 9 actresses cited for Younger Actress. Katelyn MacMullen and Avery Kristen Pohl were in 5th place.
There were 10 actors cited for Younger Actor. Jacob Aaron Grimes was in 5th place.
There were 21 performers cited for Guest/Limited Performer. Cady McClain was in 6th place for her work as Jennifer Horton on Days. Max Gail, Rif Hutton, and Heather Lindell were others that were competitive for a nomination.
There were 21 cited for Lifetime Achievement. Eric Braeden and Hillary B Smith were in 6th place.
There were 19 cited for our Legacy Award. If we did not decide to limit the number of recently deceased in 2021 to only 3 nominees Betty White would have been among our nominees this year. She was the only one affected by our decision. Interesting that we nominated just 5 daytime soap performers and the other five included a creator/EP, a children’s show performer, a talk show host, a game show host, and a headwriter!
General Hospital received 16 performer nominations for a total of 21 nominations.
Days Of Our Lives received 9 performer nominations for a total of 14 nominations.
The Bold and the Beautiful received 5 performer nominations for a total of 10 nominations.
The Young and the Restless received 3 performer nominations for a total of 8 nominations.

Very interesting that the highest vote-getters in both supporting actress and supporting actor got more votes in lead, but since the people I had in first and second place in both categories ended up nominated in lead, I can’t say I’m shocked. Looking forward to seeing how the results shake out!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 18, 2022 at 11:01 pm #1204737518That was quite unexpected, especially Kirsten Storms, Josh Swickard and Paul Telfer receiving more votes in Lead (as I had pretty much assumed it was the general consensus that they belong in supporting)!
Very surprised past Goldies nominee faves Judi Evans, Ari Zucker and Jason Thompson (all three of whom I voted for) didn’t make it onto the ballot.
A bit disappointing too that Victoria Konefal and Katelyn MacMullen (both of whom I also cast a vote for) missed out, especially since they’ve now aged out of and are no longer eligible to compete in the Younger Performer category at the Emmys this year under the new rules, and the Goldies still had an opportunity to recognize them here.

I would have to double check but I am pretty sure Paul Telfer got all of his votes in lead.
Judi, Ari, Jason, Judi, and Victoria all did very poorly, only making it on to a few ballots. Katelyn tied for fifth place.
I had a few disappointments, especially how poorly Sharon Case did since I thought she did Emmy-worthy work in 2021. Her best work was in the first half of 2021 and I wonder if that hurt her when it came time to voting? I was only totally surprised by one nominee on our list who I didn’t see coming at all!
But all in all this is a very good set of nominees and I think it reflects 2021 very well. It will be interesting to see how many of our nominees make it onto the Emmy nominees list. I am pretty sure all of our Younger Actor/Actress nominees were 21 and under during 2021 and will all be eligible for Emmy consideration with their new rules!
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 19, 2022 at 9:37 am #1204738335I can say that Paul Telfer did appear in supporting on at least one ballot! 😉
Sounds like you and I had a pretty good amount of overlap on our ballots, alokin. I knew competition would be stiff, but my only real disappointment was Ari Zucker not getting into lead actress. She did some really stellar work on the first half of the year and leading up to the big breakup at the anniversary party in July, but with so much great work done in the second half of the year, it’s hard to stay both competitive and top of mind. I was also thinking about Marci Miller, someone who I had pegged in my mind as a lead actress frontrunner in the first quarter of the year but who really receded as the year went along (and she was out on maternity leave for several months). I wonder how those folks will fare at Emmy time. I imagine that three or four of our lead nominees (male and female) will be submitted in supporting, making those categories more crowded but freeing up some slots in lead.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 19, 2022 at 10:08 am #1204738394FreemanGriffin, I kinda wish you had posted a FYC for Sharon Case. I would have probably included her in my lineup for Supporting Actress but honestly overlooked her great work with Faith’s bullying.
Also disappointed by the omission of Ari Zucker.
As for Jason Thompson and Judi Evans, could it be because both characters are so annoying? I really hope one day it’s discovered that Bonnie is actually a brainwashed Adrienne and it was Bonnie who died in the crash. And I feel like the Bonnie/Ned thing was kinda ruined Ned as a character.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 20, 2022 at 2:08 am #1204739699FYC: Mike Manning (Charlie Dale, Days Of Our Lives)
Mike played a villain in really interesting ways. His acting talent made us almost understand Charlie and while not rooting for him we did understand his sadness. His acting during the rape scenes was chilling, he had that great scene in Horton Square with Gwen, and then his work in all of the scenes from “Don’t shoot!” onwards, with Allie, Sami, Ava and Jan were all remarkable! He is someone who I think can potentially have a great career in films and television. He is already an Emmy winner (for The Bay) and I hope he submits for Emmy recognition this year for Days. I hope recency bias hasn’t made people forget how exceptional his performances have been in early 2021.
