I was sitting in bed thinking of who I think will get nominations and these names popped up….
Billy Flynn
Peter Bergman
Melissa Egan
Jacqueline MacIness Wood
Maura West
Marcus Coloma
Nicholas Chavez
Kelly Thiebaud
Tabyana Ali
Katherine Kelly Lang
Thorsten Kaye
Kimberlin Brown
Melissa Ordway
Bryton James
Greg Rikaart
Eric Martsolf
Greg Vaughn
Arianne Zucker
Tamara BraunWho do you all think are getting nods?
ReplyMarch 14, 2023 at 7:25 pm #1205352486Nicholas Chavez, Maura West, Genie Francis, Cynthia Watros, Rebecca Herbst, Sidney Mikayla, William Lipton, Kelly Thiebaud, Brook Kerr are strong possibilities for GH – there are several others that could get nominated though – there are often surprise nominees from GH.
From Days I would think Billy Flynn for certain. It’s always hard to predict with Days. There are quite a few who would have strong reels but IDK… I really want Alison Sweeney to be nominated for her phenomenal work during the wedding that didn’t happen to Lucas and her goodbye scene to E.J. I think she would be eligible for Guest Performer and I would LOVE for her to finally win an overdue Emmy!
I would think Melissa Claire Egan for Y&R but there have been times when I have been certain Y&R actresses would get nominated and they haven’t and one of those times was MCE. (One of the other times was Amelia Heinle for the J.T. abusing her storyline).
B&B: I think Tanner Novlan has some great Emmy reel material. Kimberlin Brown and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood are possibilities, and Naomi Matsuda.
I wish they would stop nominating Peter Bergman all the time ): So sick of his name always being on the list. Mine may be a minority opinion but I have never regarded him as a great daytime actor. (Ditto for Bryton James).
ReplyCopy URLMarch 15, 2023 at 7:37 pm #1205353596If I am correct … this year, 2023, will mark the 50th Daytime Emmys. (The first was in 1974. That was 49 years ago. Counting them consecutively … that should make this year No. 50.)
I have a For Your Consideration mention of a performance, from the applicable Daytime Emmys’s eligibility period, which should be recognized with a nomination here in 2023.
• Outanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Tanner Novlan, as John “Finn” Finnegan, in The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS).
I am good with just this one suggestion. I figure, “I am not doing a FYC on just anyone … especially not with the versatile and very interesting work from this charismatic actor.”
Tanner Novlan and his leading lady Jacqueline Macinnes Wood are a sparkling onscreen couple. And there is a long Daytime Emmys history, with the soaps, in which two actors working directly with each other as an onscreen romantic couple both experience getting recognized with, at the least, a nomination. Now that Wood has two Emmys, won in 2019 and 2021, here is hoping the recognition will also be given to a very deserving Novlan. He also had a very good year involving his character’s connection with one of the soaps’s most notorious vixens.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 16, 2023 at 10:24 am #1205354161Does anyone have the exact date in April when the nominations are going to be announced? I truly wish they wouldn’t take so long to 1. reveal the nominees; and 2. to reveal the winners!

Melissa Claire Egan for Lead Actress MOST DEFINITELY with Chelsea’s depression and her trying to take her own life and if Sharon Case submits, I hope she submits when Sharon learns from Nick about Rey’s death. Maybe Jason Thompson for Supporting Actor with Billy helping Chelsea with her depression. The two young lads who plays Johnny & Connor MAYBE for Younger Performer. I would also say to NEVER count out Peter Bergman & Bryton James.
B&B
Tanner Novlan ESPECIALLY but I don’t know if he will submit for Lead or Supporting Actor. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Lead Actress) & Kimberlin Brown (Supporting Actress) could get nominated. Lawrence St. Victor has been impressive with Carter’s lovelife story.
DAYS
DEFINITELY Billy Flynn for Lead Actor and Arianne Zuker for Lead Actress. Greg Vaughn & Paul Telfer for Supporting Actor. Emily O’Brien & maybe Jackee Harry for Supporting Actress. Lindsay Arnold & Raven Bowens possibly for Younger Performer(s)
ReplyCopy URLMarch 16, 2023 at 7:04 pm #1205354823does anyone know who is eligible for younger actor/actress?
Lead Actor:
Billy Flynn (Days of our lives)
Dan Fangeriel (Days of Our lives)
Jason Thompson (YnR)
Peter Bergman (YnR)
B & B veteran (B & B)With Bernard not having great material this year I see GH getting snub. I’m not sure who else there is for GH and I don’t Chavez goes lead if he is aged out of Younger. Days other possibility is Paul Telfer who I can see sneaking in but three is alot. And I suspect Tanner goes supporting for B&B. So given that but John and Throsten both have got in recently I suspect one of them sneaks in this year.
Lead Actress I have.
Zucker
Watros
West
Thrid GH Lady
CBS soap lady.I think Wright is the frontrunner for the third GH lady spot but both Genie can sneak in. I don’t see them have four noms unless they go 6 or 7 noms. Zucker seems likely easy bet from Days. Hall has a shot but she been sub for better years so many times. So I suspect a CBS leading lady will take the last spot but not sure who.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 16, 2023 at 7:20 pm #1205354841I would like to concur everyone above who are stating that Tanner Novlan is completely deserving of a nod. I believe he should and will recevie a nomination. He has given one of the best performances this past calendar year (2022) on Bold and Beautiful as well, as daytime in general, particularly his scenes, when Sheila was holding Finn hostage were noteworthy. Those scenes were phenomenal, and compelling and gravitating to watch. There were so many excellent acting choices, and he excelled in providing range of emotions; heartbreak, desperation, sadness, determination, and anger. He made everything thrown at him, work and he executed it all beautifully and powerfully. He more than deserves the nomination, and since, he was given much reel material to fill in the 15 minutes max., there is no doubt to me, that he will be receiving a nomination.
It would be interesting to see if Tanner submitted in Lead or Supporting. The material is lead, and he is paired with a leading lady in the form of Steffy/JMW, a nomination in that category would have merit. At the same time, due to Finn still being a two year character (Tanner joined the cast in 2020), and thus he still rather newer to the daytime world, I believe there are politics involved, where they encourage actors in that circumstance to submit in Supporting, while, the leading categories are more reserved for the veterans. It is the idea that you have to earned your stripes before you enter in lead. Nevertheless, I really hope he submitted, and gets his well-earned first Emmy nomination this upcoming April!

The category is gender-neutral so it is called Younger Performer, and this year, I believe the rule for eligibility is 18 and younger. I believe you mentioned Nicholas Chavez, in your post, and thus, he definitely aged out and had to either submit in Supporting or Lead.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 17, 2023 at 2:32 pm #1205355858I would like for Sharon Case to submit in supporting this year. I think it is justified since she hasn’t had a whole lot of material (that I am aware of) since Rey’s death. I am always disappointed when she has the material and she isn’t nominated but perhaps she doesn’t submit for consideration?
ReplyCopy URLMarch 17, 2023 at 5:19 pm #1205355941Great mentions!
I can confirm that, yes, the Younger Performer category is capped at 18 years old, so some of the people mentioned, like Lindsay Arnold and Raven Bowens, wouldn’t be eligible.
There are lots of people I’d be happy to see nominated. I agree that Tanner Novlan did great work this year and would be deserving of a nomination. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn up in lead, but as lovelyjoe302 said, he may have submitted in supporting because of being relatively new to the show. Though B&B seems like the least political show in terms of that kind of dynamic, so maybe not. The other two B&B performers who stood out to me were Naomi Matsuda and Sean Kanan, but since I’m not a regular B&B viewer, I obviously missed entire storylines.
Nicholas Chavez is another actor who is more than deserving of a nomination and has probably my number one reason to watch GH last year. Being so young and new fairly new to soaps, it would be my guess that he would submit in supporting, but the character is very much a lead and GH may want to push him there given their lack of other strong options in the category. Then again, they might feel better about running Charles Shaughnessy as a lead, since Victor has been terrorizing a lot of people for quite some time. He would make a good nominee. Other GH performers I’d be delighted to see nominated are Cynthia Watros, Maura West, and Brook Kerr. I’m sure there are others who I’m forgetting.
My top choice for DAYS is Dan Feuerriegel. EJ really went through the ringer last year, and Dan is consistently fantastic in playing whatever EJ is going through and finding a way to make it grounded and relatable. Billy Flynn had some great moments, but I guess I’m in the minority in feeling that he was easily overshadowed by his co-star. Arianne Zucker was excellent last year, especially in Nicole’s romantic turmoil in being torn between Rafe and Eric. Greg Vaughan was great in the story as well and would make a great nominee. And while the arc was pretty short, Cady McClain did incredible work with Jennifer’s relapse into pain pills, as well as during Abigail’s death. There were a lot of other strong performers, but those are the ones that jump out most to me.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 17, 2023 at 10:02 pm #1205356063I feel as though Cady Mcclain could probably fit into the guest acting category. And while she’s never pulled off a win, Marci Miller seems to be a nominated favorite, so if she submitted lead while she was leading a storyline, she may get in, but she is more compatible this time around for the supporting actress category. I definitely wouldn’t rule out Emily O’Brien getting in, she has yet to be nominated for days, but she did also pull off a few younger actress nominations while still on Y&R. Alison Sweeney seems like a longshot to hope for, even though she’s been deserving pretty much every year since about 1994 for a nomination, her first year was a meh year for her acting.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 17, 2023 at 11:57 pm #1205356079I have a feeling this may finally be Cynthia Watros’ year to take home the Lead Actress trophy (and no one would be more deserving) though of course at this point there are still quite a few unknowns (ie., did Michelle Stafford, who had equally phenomenal work to showcase, submit after choosing to sit the Emmys out last year; did Kimberlin Brown, Melissa Claire Egan, Amelia Heinle and Susan Walters go lead or supporting?) that could factor into many of the races.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 18, 2023 at 12:48 pm #1205356472I also would really like to see Kirsten Storms remembered for her great work early in 2022at the end of the Peter August storyline when Maxie went off with him to Switzerland and the scene where he held a gun on her and she calmly handled him right before he was killed by Felicia. She hasn’t gotten worthwhile material since then but she was great during that two week period!
ReplyCopy URLMarch 20, 2023 at 8:49 am #1205357837That’s one of the reasons I like the reel system of judging for Emmys. It helps people who had great work very early in the year to be remembered without having to rely on actually remembering it.
It would be weird to me to see Marci Miller nominated in supporting. I know she was only on for half the year, but she certainly felt like a lead to me during that time. I would assume that Ali Sweeney would submit in guest, as she was only on for I believe 10 episodes last year, and I’d think her chances were decent. It’s frustrating getting to this point in the year and not knowing who submitted what and where.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 20, 2023 at 1:10 pm #1205358070Today is March 20, so it is the first day of Daytime Emmy voting! If some judges are luking on this site, happy voting!
I wish Daytime did more FYC like the Primetime Emmys do, so we would have some sort idea who entered in the competition! Or even having precursors, like films/primetime tv, have the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and SAG Awards, so we have a perspective who critics/people in the industry are eye-ing for.
I love the element of surprise, but there are sometime too many surprises on Emmy nominations announcement day! 🤣
