This is a great point, lovelyjoe302, regarding lack of FYCs and precursors. I (and I know others) have been frustrated by the lack of info coming from the Daytime Emmys administrators, but in fairness to them, the administrators of the Primetime Emmys and Oscars don’t have the same problem because of everything the shows/movies themselves are willing to campaign for and everything we see in precursors. Sadly, the only things in daytime that we have close to a precursor are the WGA awards, which rarely match up with the Daytime Emmys and after this year feel even more mysterious, and the Soap Opera Digest best and worst list, which, with respect, is designed to sell magazines as much as anything. When Soap Opera Digest did their awards, that felt like a really fun, and perhaps more populist, companion with the Emmys. I miss those days.
Happy voting to any judges!

Here is who I would like to see nominated – since this is the last year for me where I can do these:
April 1, 2023 at 4:50 pm #1205373697I see the voters spreading the wealth like last year. Each show had its moments.
ReplyCopy URLApril 4, 2023 at 5:48 am #1205377020No longer being a loyal soap viewer, I’m usually reluctant to chime in on threads. These days when time permits, I check out General Hospital. It’s not the soap it was twenty years ago, but for the most part the acting department still lives up to its former glory.
Since I don’t watch the remaining three soaps, I’d be out of my wheelhouse to guesstimate over WHO I Think Will Get A Nomination ( Although I always loved seeing Michelle Stafford’s name perennially on the nominees list ) I can only speak to whom I’d like to see make the cut and reach the gold from GH.Best Actor – Nicholas Chavez. He has no male equal on the show acting wise. He looks like Rudolf Nureyev and plays tortured emotional conflict like a young James Dean on testosterone overload. He delivered the goods this year in Emmy winning style.
Best Supporting Actor- ???
Best Guest Actor – Adam Huss hands down.Saddled with the unenviable task of having to play one of the most complex roles on the show ( and as a Ready Reserve at that ) Nicholas Cassadine. He managed to go toe to toe with atomic blonde Maura West and still remained standing ( well that is until she seal clubbed him ). His goodbye scene with Genie Francis is the kind of performance Emmys are made of.
Best Actress – Kelly Thiebaud. Yes Kelly Thiebaud. Some would argue she was supporting – bupkis. She delivered a tragic leading lady performance like it was nobody’s business. GH’s Lead Actress lane isn’t exclusively reserved for Wright, West and Watros.Thiebaud eclipsed them in her ” Dark Victory ” storyline. Tough as acrylic nails one minute and heartbreaking the next. But best of all, she never fell into the actor’s trap of playing for pity. It was a rock star performance.
********** AND ****************
Genie Francis. Francis is redefining the role of the soap matriarch. Like any good maven, she listens, dispenses sage advice and finishes with a gourmet bear hug.But she also codas with a good kick in the ass. Francis can take the most generic scene that’s pure filler and infuse it with life and make it ” The Moment ” on the show. She’s often called upon to play ” Sophie’s Choice ” between Nicholas and Spencer and does so with such intelligence and heart that it becomes next level. She is a writer’s dream. Why does this woman only have one Emmy to date?
Best Supporting Actress- Brook Kerr. She jumped into the ranks of the Julia Barrs, Nancy Lee Grahns and Gina Tognonis of superlative supporting actress winners when she delivered that scorched earth monologue about her regret over not raising Trina to deal with the world as a black woman. It was a drop the mic moment of writing made even better by Kerr’s fearless performance. Bravura.
Best Guest Actress-???

2022 was the last year in which I watched all 4 shows. I now only watch GH. The writing is so terrible on the other 3 shows that I have given up on them; acting alone isn’t enough for me any more.
ReplyCopy URLApril 4, 2023 at 4:01 pm #1205378081Somebody had told me that Eden McCoy was in her early 20’s but she is actually 19! That means that she, William Lipton and Sidney Mikayla will all be eligible (William and Sidney both turned 19 during the calendar year 2022) for the Younger Performer category!!! I hope all 3 submitted and all 3 get much deserved nominations! I don’t feel any of the youngsters on any of the other shows actually did strong enough work to be nominated – they are cute and have nice moments but I don’t personally see their work as strong enough for a nomination. Is just being cute enough?
I think the number of nominees in the category will depend on how many performers submitted so there might not be five nominees…
ReplyCopy URLApril 5, 2023 at 2:59 pm #1205379341I would love for Deidre Hall to snag a nomination again.
ReplyCopy URLApril 6, 2023 at 9:37 am #1205380191^^^It’s been so long, and they did her dirty not nominating her for 2021.
ReplyCopy URLApril 6, 2023 at 1:11 pm #1205380471For lead actress I think Maura West, Jacqueline MacIness Wood, Melissa Egan, Marci Miller, and Arianne Zucker will be nominated. Maybe Sharon Case, Mishael Morgan, Katherine Kelly Lang, or Cynthia Watros will be in the mix. Who knows.
Lead Actor is tricky. We all know Billy Flynn is gonna win regardless (he’s gonna be hard to beat), but I see Peter Bergman, Thorsten Kaye, Eric Martsolf ,and Jon Lindstrom on the list.
Supporting Actor is kinda tricky….Nicholas Chavez, Greg Vaughn, Greg Rikaart, Paul Telfer, and Bryton James. Maybe Matthew Atkinson, Matthew Ashford, or Tanner Novolan.
Supporting actress is kinda tricky too…I see Kimberlin Brown, Amelia Heinle, Rebecca Herbst, Cady McClain, and Kelly Thiebaud but at the same time Melissa Ordway, Emily Obrien, Krista Allen, or Brook Kerr.
Idk about younger performer or guest formers yet. I need time to think.
ReplyCopy URLApril 6, 2023 at 1:57 pm #1205380526I think the nominations will be the usual mix of great, good and awful, just like every single year. I hope they don’t do their “round up the usual suspects” nominations this year but hope doesn’t always translate to it actually happening. The biggest problem is we don’t know who submitted and which category so any disappointments could just be a matter of the performer not submitting for recognition. There are always performers most of us are sure will be on the list and then they aren’t on it. it’s the Daytime Emmys! Expect the unexpected! (;
ReplyCopy URLApril 6, 2023 at 5:06 pm #1205380750From what I understand from the rulebook, the goal is to have five nominees in the acting categories, yet if there are ties, it can go up to 6- 7 nominees. I really hope that especially with how they lowered the eligibility for Younger Performer to 18, that we can have more than five nominees across the acting categories; at least it could prevent some potential horrid snubs since the submissions in the Supporting/Lead categories are going to be much larger.
ReplyCopy URLApril 11, 2023 at 11:46 am #1205385969I was just thinking about how in some cases there are 3 nominees from one show and then 2 other nominees from different shows. Usually the 3 nominees from the same show cancel each other out and one of the other 2 ladies wins. Now there have been cases were there was 4 nominees from the same show and one of the ppl won (I think that happened when David Tom won in 2000 his costars Joshua morrow, Bryant Jones, and David Lago were nominees along with Jonathan jackson). I think that’s solely based off the reel. The emmys can be tricky at times. I also remember in 78 when Heinemann won over her costars Wyndham and McKinsey. The voters really loved her 3 scenes from when Russ finds out Sharlene was a prostitute.
ReplyCopy URLApril 19, 2023 at 5:24 pm #1205396197yes i agree:
DAYS
DEFINITELY Billy Flynn for Lead Actor and Arianne Zuker for Lead Actress. Greg Vaughn & Paul Telfer for Supporting Actor. Emily O’Brien & maybe Jackee Harry for Supporting Actress. Lindsay Arnold & Raven Bowens possibly for Younger Performer(s)
And Cary Christopher with his scenes with Billy Flynn I think
