Didn’t know where else to put this. I’m genuinely shocked we’re not talking about this more. We’re getting an all-new Emmys! I’m holding off explicit excitement until I see the categories (fingers crossed for a lot of cartoon voice acting categories), but this is still genuinely intriguing.

Childen’s, animated, family shows were never a popular topic even during the peak of the Daytime Emmys.

It’s only so many times you can dicuss if Sesame Street is the favorite to win.

The cool thing about those genre of shows getting nominated you can get a big name to attend. I think George Lucas won a Daytime Emmy for Best animated series and he actually showed up.

That’s fair. It’s why I’m mostly excited for the animated stuff because that’s what most everyone cares about / still can find appealing. Just imagine Troy Baker getting nominated for Amphibia or something like that.

Maybe given the realignment, this is better placed in the Primetime section? We also normally discuss the International Emmys there, which also have a children’s section.

There’s been a couple of discussions around shows we think might be better submitted in to Children’s and Family (Heartstopper, most recently) and I can see this come up again with Disney programming like Ms Marvel and Willow. Plus we already have an animated thread.

That’s an interesting point, kat_ebbs. I don’t have a super strong opinion about it, but for me it kind of makes sense to keep the Children’s and Family Emmy discussions in the daytime section because the awards are administered by the same awards body as and in a similar manner to the Daytime Emmys, which is quite different from how the Primetime Emmys are conducted. That said, the fact that the shows formerly know as digital drama series are now eligible under the Primetime Emmys makes the lines feel very blurred indeed.

Yeah, I don’t think there’s a perfect answer. Technically it probably should remain here, but I suspect engagement might be a bit higher in the other board? Up to mods, largely.
