The Hollywood Reporter is confirming that DAYS OF OUR LIVES was renewed for another 2 years at NBC owned PEACOCK. This means the show will celebrate its 60th Anniversary and 15,000th episode on the air.

It also says in the article, “Peacock says Days of Our Lives has consistently ranked among its 10 most watched titles since originals started running there in September.” This is awesome news.

Days has apparently been in their Top 5 and Top 3 since the move from NBC (confirmed by several cast members) as well and is a big part of PEACOCKS subscription increase in the last quarter of 2022.

Days continues to be a trailblazer in the daytime drama industry, being the first soap opera to successfully transition from broadcast to streaming, the other 3 soaps will be streaming by the end of the decade.

Now that the show has gotten this pickup, I would love to see some industry articles about the successful transition of a soap to a steaming platform. It would be cool to get a little more behind the scenes info about the decision and the show’s performance before and after the switch. I would also find it interesting to see some speculation about how likely or feasible a similar move might be at one of the other shows and how they’d go about it.
