    TV Line – Days Renewed

They’ll be celebrating in Salem tonight: NBC has renewed Days of Our Lives for two additional years (Seasons 57 and 58). The pickup — announced Tuesday — ensures that Days will remain on the air well into 2023.

DAYS current contract expires in September 2021, so this deal will ensure they remain on air until September 2023.

Was this a close call or was the renewal always in the bag?

Wow! I am really surprised! Two more years! I wish they had been so kind to all of my New York based soaps! Glad that there are still 4 soaps remaining! I do wish Days would improve in it’s writing and producing choices – perhaps they will improve over the next two years!

I can’t say for sure, but given that the writing staff never stopped working and the show went back into production more than a week before the renewal was announced, it seems like there was a lot of confidence that it would happen. Not from the fans necessarily, but the people at the show didn’t seem worried.

I don’t believe it was a close call, I think the main issue was to try and workout something more long-term, as opposed to the usual one year deal that the show has been getting in the last few years.

DAYS is doing very well in the streaming markets for NBC/Sony. It is the #1 most streamed show on NBC’s platforms and this has contributed to NBC’s increase in support for the show over the last few years.

DAYS has weathered the television streaming transition well which has improved its position from where it was at the beginning of the 2010’s when NBC was as close as it ever was to cutting the show from the network.
