February 21, 2023 at 4:32 am #1205311932My two biggest disappointments in this category were that Scott DeFreitas and Van Hansis did not win ): In the case of Scotty D he should have been nominated every year he was eligible rather than just the three times; Van Hansis losing to Bryton James (at the time he was using McClure as his last name) was my least favorite win in the category ):
I watched Guiding Light every day in the 1990’s, yet I have no memories at all, none, of Kevin Mambo on the show! I found him totally unmemorable and can’t believe he won two back to back Emmys.
One Life To Live did so poorly in both of the Younger Performer categories. Ryan Phillipe should have won for 1992-93, and there were a ton of younger performers who deserved recognition – both genders – from the show.
Matthew Bomer should have won for 2003 but wasn’t nominated? At least you guys who participated in the Goldies 20 year years chose him for his superb work on Guiding Light.
Chandler Massey’s third win when they showed a clip of Guy Wilson by mistake was memorable!
Why do I not remember Max Ehrich on Y&R? He was nominated four times!
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 21, 2023 at 8:26 am #1205312117Chandler Massey’s third win was a strange one. I believe he submitted a very short reel, something like two minutes. When I was watching the reels (I believe these were posted online at that time? Or maybe it was when Gold Derby was getting DVDs from NATAS to watch the submitted reels?), I raised something of a fuss about it, because I was certain that there was some mistake and that couldn’t have been the entire submission. Apparently I was wrong, I was assured by the person at the show who put the submissions together. And Chandler won anyway. I believe that same year, Max Ehrich was nominated based on an episode that didn’t even air within the eligibility period. If I’m remembering this correctly, he had started at the very end of the year, and the episode he wanted to submit was originally intended to air in the eligibility year, but because of a pre-emption or something, instead aired at the start of the next year, but he received special permission from the awards administration to use it and got a nomination. Anyone else remember that? Am I recalling that correctly?

Massey won for his argument with Sami on the say Arianna was born. Chandler deserved it. The way will went in on Sami was delightful

Mambo had fantastic chemistry with the great Wendy Moinz, but I guess the show wasn’t ready for an interracial couple at that moment.
