He’s the most nominated actor in Daytime Emmy history

Is it a result of rubber stamping or he legit deserve his Emmys

Fun fact about Bergman’s nominations: He only has one for All My children the rest of the 21 are for Y&R

I am going to be brutal about this and know that nobody will agree with me: he deserved ZERO of his nominations! I do not like his acting at all and think his performances are subpar. Also: Terry Lester has always been the real and only Jack Abbott for me. I think Peter Bergman is a lightweight and he robbed many other actors of a slot as an Emmy nominee over the years.

His three wins: 1990-91, 1991-92 and 2001: I would have given those Emmys (out of who was nominated) to David Canary, Michael Zaslow and Hunt Block.

I don’t expect anyone to see this my way but I think he’s a very bad actor.

    I’m in the minority also

Although I don’t necessarily think he’s a bad actor but a one trick pony

You can chalk up his wins and nominations due to bloc voting and the limited pool of talented actors in daytime

I didn’t realize he had that many! I think he’s a talented actor capable of delivering strong performances. He’s just not my cup of tea. He has an overly theatrical acting style that I don’t care for.

I’ve ranked his nominated reel many times and only thought he was competitive once. But that’s only over the last 10 years or so.

Back in the 90’s when he won his first two Emmys, that histrionic acting style was favored by voters, so I won’t begrudge him those wins. How he won again after 2000 and consistently gets noms even today, I’ll never understand. He’s really the only actor, male or female, I can think of that the Daytime Emmys have never gotten sick of nominating. Who knows why!

    to put things in perspective

    Susan Lucci has 21 nominations

after that Jeanne Cooper and Michelle Stafford  share third place with ten nominations each

Heather Tom has 18 nominations, Maura West has 12 nominations, Nancy Lee Grahn has 10 nominations. I am pretty sure Jeanne Cooper has 9 nominations? How many did Susan Flannery get? (1 for Days and quite a few for B&B).

More fun facts about Bergman’s nominations

While Peter got 21 nominations for Jack Abbot his predecessor Terry Lester got 4 nominations for Jack Abbot

By far the record for a recast getting more nods than the originator

Laura Wright has 6 nods as Carly compared to Sarah Brown’s 4 nods for the character

Jess Walton has 7 nods for playing Jill Abbot compared to Brenda Dickson got 0 nods for Jill Abbot

Marj Dusay got 1 nod for Alexandria Spaulding compared to Beverlee McKinsey’s 0 nods

Ron Raines got 3 nods for Alan Spaulding vs Chris Bernau getting no nominations for the same role

Flannery got 9 nods for Bold and Beautiful. It’s insane she went more than two decades without being nominated and still is in the top tier of most acting nods.

So that means Susan Flannery has a total of 10 nominations (one for Days).

I guess it’s not at all surprising that most of the actors who were recasts have more noms than the originals. Many of the original actors were not well-liked by their cast mates. Heather Tom aside (and she has far too many nominations for B&B), not one of them is better than the original actor.

I was legit surprised about Bernau not getting at least one nod

another interesting tidbit I found out while doing research on recast and nominations

The only recast that has equal amount of nominations as the original is Hunt Block who got two nods for playing Craig Montgomery his predecessor Scott Bryce also got two nods for the same role
