    I think Bergman is great! He was only bad playing the South American lookalike lol. That was truly truly bad work that’s a black mark on the entire history of the young and the restless.

    and poor Jon Lindstrom only got a measly one nomination for the role! (;

    I’d also say Bergman’s acting is generally not my cup of tea. I don’t love how theatrical it is a lot of the times. And since most of my Y&R viewing has been in the last 20 or so years, most of his storylines haven’t been that great either, which doesn’t help. I do remember a recent year or two when I thought Bergman’s reels were very good, and I think one year I even thought he should win over the other nominees (that may have been the Scott Clifton year?).

    The prevailing theory on Bergman being so heavily nominated is that he was one of the actors who would basically call around and campaign, asking other actors to vote for him to get nominated. I believe this was happening before the prenom system was instituted, though that may have helped him somewhat in its early iteration, where each show was voting to put forth two or three performers in each category. He seems to be very popular among his castmates, and is obviously someone who is well liked, so lots of people voting her him isn’t a shock. I never saw Terry Lester as Jack, so I have nothing to compare Bergman’s performances to.

    And I agree, the performances during the Marco story were kind of astoundingly bad. It’s just not something the show should have tried to make him do.

    In my opinion he did deserve the majority of his nods and his 3 wins (Jack confronts Nikki about her addiction; Jack brags to Victor about spending time with the kids and Nikki for Christmas; Jack tells Phyllis that he’s in love with her (that was one of two reels each that won him his 3 Emmys)). Bergman has always been one of my favorite actors in daytime history. I truly believe in my heart he’ll win another Emmy.

    Ugh, the Marco storyline. One of those things I wish I could unsee.
